A Wilmington City Council proposal to create a registry for gun offenders, similar in concept to the sex offender registry, is up for discussion again after being tabled over the summer amid concerns.

The Gun Offender Registry Act, sponsored by Councilman Bob Williams, would require all Wilmington residents convicted of gun crimes in the state of Delaware to register with the city police department within five days of their release. Those who fail to do so could face thousands of dollars in fines and could go back to prison

    ACLU letter against it. http://php.delawareonline.com/news/assets/2017/10/Gun_Offender_Registry_letter_10-9-17.pdf

    What say you?

Baltimore has one already and its done zero good. And technically the entire country has a gun offender list, it’s calles an FBI criminal rap sheet. But politicians are eager to put their names on anything to make it appear they are doing their jobs.

Webster is not much of an expert if he was surprised to learn that the most serious gun cases never show up as a conviction because the gun charges are dropped during plea bargaining. Those thugs are repeat offenders who don't make a registry.

How about a registry naming prosecutors and judges? The ones involved with the plea deals and the shortened sentences that are responsible for putting these thugs back on the street for the umpteenth time?

That's the registry I want to see.

Hope this type of thing doesn't end up like the no fly list. People put on the list for unknown reasons or people with the same name having problems.

Just another politician trying to look good. Ya wanna look good. Start getting tough on crime and stop the these judges and attorneys from playing patty cake with these criminals.

Or is this the first step to requiring all firearm gun owners to register? :innocent0
