I wouldn't knock Kel Tec quality. I carried Kel Tec's as back up pistols for years and never had a malfunction. I trained hard with them and, when IDPA came around, I used, P11, P9 and P3AT in IDPA matches. They may be inexpensive, but they aren't cheap. Fellow competitors were surprised to see how accurate a P3AT could be considering how small it is.

I'm not saying they are bad but of all the ones I've seen compared to Rugers, Ruger build quality is superior.

I was looking at one the other day that was new. As I inserted the barrel, the action would close. Is that normal, or did I do something wrong. My 10/22 TD does not exhibit that behavior.

Some do it more readily than others, but the bolt shouldn't go home without some sort of bump. It was either that, or make the bolt release like a 10/22, and I am pretty sure most people would have hated that...

I have been shooting the crap out of mine lately, and just gave it it's first cleaning this AM.

I had a TRS 80 on it, and it was filling in the center mass at 25 no issue. Yeah not that hard. But just to get the optic sighted in. Going to AGC today to see what I can do with the optic at 50..... Posting up a range report here shortly....

I put a Vortex Viper on mine. Works great.

So universally great? Just wondering as I am eyeing up current legislation and seeing if I can basically fill my punch list of long guns I'd want to get in the next few years, before October. Wait out an LGQL as long as possible (until hopefully SCOTUS kicks MD up between the nuts). A Ruger PCC is high on my list. Maybe the top of my list at this point. That said, I am light on bolt action rifles. Mostly because they've always fallen at the bottom of "stupid Maryland, what will they ban next" list of things I felt like I needed to buy.

So I've basically got a 98 Mauser I am parting with and my Sako Forester in .308 (which is awesome). I'd really like a .223 and 6.5 Grendel bolt gun also. But not sure what to do about that.

Those 3 long guns would more or less cover me for a few years for any itches or holes in my inventory. A fair number of C&R guns I want still, but not a lot I can do about that right now (other than having an FFL03, which I do).

Any thoughts. I was kind of thinking a Ruger PCC is at the top of the list, then maybe a Ruger American in .223 and possibly try to grab a barreled Howa 1500 receiver in 6.5 Grendel as it is supposed to be nice and I don't care as much about mag compatibility there (though expensive magazines). I can get a chassis/stock for the Howa down the road. I'd do the same about a Howa 1500 in .223, but I'd really like Magazine compatibility with my ARs for something in .223 (even if I am mostly using 10 round mags, I've got a pile of all sizes).

All of this is predicated on that stupid legislation passing. If it doesn't, chill for awhile longer (wife is mad about my guns, but I think I can make a good case if this legislation passes). A PCC taken apart would fit at the top of my gun safe easy, takes glock mags which I also have, cheap to shoot, I've got a red dot that could go on it already. Seems like the perfect knock-about/range toy.

I would have bought the Ruger PC carbine sooner if I were a pistol caliber carbine enthusiast. I have played with a couple pcc’s before but they didn’t fill a need nor strike a fancy. This one did on several rationales.

I went to bass pro tonight to try to order one. They only carry the non threaded version. After cabelas in va refused to sell me one I called bp and they said they could special order it but I have to be in the store. I go in tonight and am told we probably can't order one but we'll ask our order guy and see. Very frustrating. I would never even go in there but i have a ton of money in gift cards that I'm trying to use.

I would love to see this rifle in either 10mm or 44mag.

I doubt you could manage it in 44mag without a redesign. The recoil spring and bolt weight to support 44mag pressures and muzzle energy would be atrocious. 10mm is maybe as hot as you can get in a blowback rifle before having to make serious compromises.

My girlfriends step dad originally bought a keltec 2000 and it literally broke in half. Traded up for the PC carbine and he says its built like a tank, a lot nicer gun.

Wait till gym ratz moves by you and get one from John, or have him order you one and make the drive if you don’t wanna wait. He gets them if fairly often.
