But the anti-gunners have the deep pockets to do so, as well as the necessary "ends justify the means" values to live with the aftermath.

There is a part of me that would love to believe that some deep picket Anti staged this operation to set him up, but the most likely scenario is that he simply had a lapse of judgment and let his dick get him in trouble. Let’s give him
his day in court before passing judgement. If he is found guilty he surely wasn’t the first to make a mistake like this, and won’t be the last.

For someone seemingly so smart how can he be that stupid. I doubt it was a setup from the left, HE was the one that created a "Sugardaddy" acct and unless there is a body double HE was the one stupid enough to meet in public places. Unless you're in BFE everywhere has cameras recording your every move. Sad.

I don’t doubt he was dumb enough for the account, but after the craziness with Kavanaugh’s phantom accuser I wouldn’t be surprised if the girl was a set up.

Doesn’t excuse him being dumb enough to fall for it however. Although I’m far more concerned with how this is going to screw over the case/American’s freedom at large more so than any criminal acts. Cause some dude can’t keep it in his pants, blue governments can now violate the 1A and ban “dangerous technical speech”. Insane.

Did the police confiscate the $500? She shouldn't be allowed to profit from an illegal activity.

I will never know for sure but my gut is telling me that the girl LIED about her age to get onto the Sugardaddie website to start with. I have not checked but it would make sense that you have to be 18 or older to log on and open an account on a dating site, especially one called Sugardaddie. Strike one for the victim. Then to accept 500 bucks for sex (prostitution) is another crime. Strike 2 for the victim. She probably did not think this out very far when she decided to open an account, search for a sugar daddie, have sex with a man that was "over age", then tell her councilor about this incident. She was probably blind to what the repercussions were going to be for HER. At 16 years old, I would not expect much more from a troubled teen girl. She will no doubt get into some kind of trouble for this. I just have to wonder if she was "egged on" by someone to do this with naivete in the forefront. I am not trying to justify Cody's actions in any way. I would really like to think that he did not know that she was underage. If he did, I lost a hero. Time may tell. I still can't believe this crap happened.

So there might be some unpopular thoughts in this.

First, if he had child porn on his computer, he should be in jail. That is wrong.

Second, he did ultimately sleep with someone under the age of consent. I think that ultimately, anyone can lie and join the website, and the onus is on the person to ensure that the person is legal. I'm not going to fault him for using the website, I think everyone knows that I think that if two consenting adults want to exchange money for sex, it's none of the government's business. That wasn't the case here though.

Now, I have some problems with this case. It sounds like the girl freely took and send nude images of herself. That should be enough to have her arrested and charged. The one article suggests that she contacted him, not the other way around. Since you can't register for websites like those without being over 18, she would have had to lie about her age and thus misrepresent herself and try to profit from her fraud.

I feel for those women who are forced to do sex work, who are sold into sex work, and the people who do that should be shot on site; but this girl doesn't sound like she was pimped or trafficked, it sounds like she knew what she was doing.

Cody broke the law, he should have ensured she was over 18 before he paid to play, but it will be sad if this girl doesn't get in trouble too.

I know for sure that she lied about her age because I verified that the site requires you to be at least 18. It also claims its members are verified. It states "verify" means

It means proving your identity by uploading a readable and clear copy of your photo ID (driver’s license, State ID card, passport) or other related material. By verifying your information you are showing members you are real and serious about finding a match or friends. We do not disclose, sell or rent any personal, identifiable information to any third party organizations. All information provided is kept confidential.

Apparently it does not matter that that she lied though.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Do I think it's very possible that Cody didn't know her real age, and that she lied about it? Sure. She might even get some charges - as a minor - for it. Do I think it's gonna matter a lot when he's charged for prostitution? Doubtful.

Defense Distributed can certainly continue, but there's no doubt in my mind that, as an organization, this is a major setback for them. Cody Wilson was always the charismatic front man for them, and he is not going to be easy to replace... most people simply don't take risks like he was willing to take them.

The girl faking an ID in order to be verified on the site makes this seem even more like a honeypot. Note that none of this makes it okay and Cody is still a moron cruising a site for rich guys to meet young girls and got himself caught up in all of this.

If this ever gets to trial I’d love to know who provided her with the ID, and see how she holds up under cross; but I’d be really surprised if Cody isn’t found dead before he gets extradited.

I seriously doubt the girl will face any charges, even though she’s guilty of distributing child porn due to sending Cody pics, since they’re charging Cody with having them. She’ll probably get an invite to Frosh’s next ice cream social.

Frosh once came on to me with unwanted sexual advances by asking me about my showering habits in a public setting.

That's an understatement. One unnecessary, poorly calculated risk in particular.

What a moron. Raise a middle finger to The Man and then do something this stupid. And that's not even getting into the morality and legality of his actions. For what it's worth, I find the existence of such a website morally repugnant and the debasement of a woman's worth. And, having child porn on your computer SHOULD earn you a free ticket to status as Bubba's bighouse girlfriend.

That said, surely this idiot had to suspect his actions would bring closer scrutiny than most of us engender, but clearly he didn't.

Has anyone made the Nike meme for him yet?

Part of me was cheering this guy for standing up for freedom with the 3D gun but now I wonder if he’s just one of those people who don’t think any of the laws apply to him.

In general yes, I agree with you. It is certainly possible that he possessed child porn outside of this case, and that would be disgusting. However, keep in mind that the story said that the girl sent nude pictures of herself to him. If she was underage, *that* means he possessed child porn in a legal sense, even if he didn't know it. (It also means that she is guilty of distribution of child porn, but hey...) This is a fairly serious thing, and it's something my wife and I have discussed that we will have to talk to our son about when he's old enough, because if a high school girlfriend sends pictures of herself to a high school boyfriend and he gets caught with them, that's possession of child porn and now the boyfriend is a registered sex offender for life.

Second, he did ultimately sleep with someone under the age of consent.

    Yup.

It does sound like the girl would have had to misrepresent herself in a fairly serious way, including fake ID in order to register for the site, which means that she is also culpable in this. It doesn't excuse Cody, and he's still a dumbass who should never have done anything like this.

I feel for those women who are forced to do sex work, who are sold into sex work, and the people who do that should be shot on site; but this girl doesn't sound like she was pimped or trafficked, it sounds like she knew what she was doing.

People all over Facebook are white knighting Wilson.

    "Being a Sugar daddy isn't a Crime"
    "He was setup"
    "Prostitution isn't a crime" Really?
"Having sex with a 17yo inst a crime if she likes about her age"

I guess Cody Wilson had a ghost gun put to his head and forced him to do these things.

    I bet I lose my $250.00 deposit.

Wow, I tried to tell someone yesterday in conversation that under 18 is a child, they argued and we fact checked ... In MD in regards to sexting it is 16 wtf

    Possession of Sexually Explicit Material
In Maryland, it is a crime for anyone to possess and retain (receive and keep) an image or video of a child under the age of 16 engaged in sexual conduct or in a state of sexual excitement. Sexual conduct includes sex, oral sex, masturbation, or any touching or contact with the private areas of the body, including a woman’s breasts. For example, if a 15-year-old girl sends a sexually explicit photo of herself to her boyfriend via text message and he keeps the image on his phone, he could be convicted of possession of sexually explicit material.
