If you could only take 5 lures with you fishing in the Bay, for anything, what would they be?

    I am thinking :
    Zara Spook
    Popper
    Rattle trap
    Bucktail
    Spoon

Might swap the popper for a Gulps or DOA.

    Crippled alewive spoon
    Bucktails
    Surgical hose
    Parachute
    Shads 4"-12"

I could normally find something that worked in these five

I'd swap out the popper for a Road Runner bucktail. Bluefish love them.

Do you attach anything to the hook ? Squid strip or anything?
I'm looking for other options to Gotcha Plug on bluefish in Atlantic Tidal waters.

When I used to surf fish up and down the East Coast, we used whole mullet on a special hook for Blues. The hook shank was long so it would go through the whole mullet and at the bottom you attached a two prong hook. This worked well as the blues couldn't bite through it.

When fishing shoreline structures, sunken piers, etc. for croakers and perch, I like a small piece of fish bites on a Panther Martin spinner.

I will usually toss it out as is. If no bites, I'll add a 1.5"-2" strip of Fishbites (bloodworm), 3/8″ Chartreuse and that usually does the trick. They are great for jigging or quickly spinning under the surface if you catch them feeding. They absolutely destroy the lure so bring a few!

I was wondering if someone would mention Tonys; Rockfish been swallowing them whole for decades. Without doubt the most consistent lure on the Bay over the past 50+ years.

Pretty much magic, if the Win 94 WAS the standard for deer, Tony's still ARE the standard for rock.

    Has anyone mentioned surgical hose?
