Braided line to flouro/mono leader

I am going to re-spool to #30 braid and run a #20 flouro or mono leader. Does the line diameters matter?

I started using the improved clinch knot on the braid and mono knot for both sides and have never had it slip. The little tiny tag has never been a problem.

I use 30# braid and 20 pound trylene XL in salt and 15#/10# combo in fresh water. I cut the trylene in two arm length between my hands (12' maybe) and roll and tape with scotch tape and sharpie the poundage on it. Keep it all in a sandwich bag in my PFD.

Thanks! I’ll have to start using that instead of a Uni-Uni knot. The tag ends wont be in the way.

The one in that video is from Orvis and is a bit pricey, you can find other brands on Amazon for half the price that work just as well.

Is this for a shock leader or regular leader? for braid to mono leader I have used the uni-to-uni without issues. For a shock leader I like a spider hitch to a no name knot.

I've been using the surgeons knit for many years joining braid to florocarbon without failure.

Duncan loop knot for floro to terminal tackle.

AKA the Duncan loop knot. Mine too. From tying a #26 midge onto 9x FC tippet to tying a 14/0 circle hook to a 30# test FC leader, this is the only knot I will use on terminal tackle.
