Everytown Claims Victory As Gun Control Bills Pass Across Country
    http://www.thedailysheeple.com/ever...-gun-control-bills-pass-across-country_072017
Several states have passed tougher gun control laws in the past few months, and Everytown for Gun Control is celebrating “winning” over the gun lobby.

While many laws target domestic abusers some were enacted to remove private party sales by making a background check mandatory. Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Tennessee and Utah all passed new restrictions on firearms for domestic abusers, according to Everytown for Gun Safety group, which is funded by billionaire and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Overall, 23 states have enhanced the laws around domestic abusers since 2013, says the gun control advocacy group. New Jersey already has some of the most draconian gun laws in the nation...

I guess when you can only make limited progress in Liberal friendly places it is a victory of sorts. Bloomberg's millions haven't done very much, IMO.

seems as though they've focused on state-level action, and are building their local movements and chalking up some easy, less controversial wins. Boiling the frog. Don't make the mistake of thinking they're the JV.

Exactly. They've seen now successful gun control on the national level has been vs on the state level.

Expect to see more state level action, and in states that allow ballot measures, except more of them.

Washington and California have been getting pummeled by the referendum strategy. There is a LOT of concern that they're going to try to force an AWB in WA using that route, as it has basically no chance in the legislature.

Infringing at the state and local level has been their openly stated strategy for a few years. Hizzhonor Bloomberg might have even made a statement to that effect. They decided the Constitution and NRA have ironclad influence in DC but not elsewhere. No sugary drinks or guns for you.

Hmm. Taking on the Second Amendment Foundation on its home turf. Trying for a big PR win, and to deplete its resources locally?

Agreed. Our local visibility MUST be raised. And our focus must expand beyond protest/counterprotest to include focused action on furthering our agenda. This will mean that as our action agenda develops, out of the eleventy thousand members on this forum we will need (1) more than 12-15 PP turning out for events and (2) members who can't--for a variety of reasons--"stand the line" but who have other deep, essential skills and capacities, willing to step forward and join the effort. That could be everything from digital editing and publication to logistics to contributing needed funds to talking to potential participants to whatever.

It’s all important even when it’s not all “exciting and glamorous.” In fact, the high profile stuff is not sustainable and capable of growth without the support efforts. This needs to be an “all hands” posture.

This is exactly the strategy Bloomberg announced last year in addition to pouring a torrent of money into his anti-Civil Rights creatures. I haz memory, and will never underestimate the b*st*rds. They're aiming for the low hanging fruit and are scoring easy wins for minimal effort and maximum money.

We'll see how well it goes when they try to buy the more conservative states. I fear cities and states like ours are a foregone conclusion if they need wins to bolster their propaganda.

When they get around to more conservative states, they'll have enough little wins to throw out impressive but misleading propaganda statistics like, "98 jurisdictions have approved these measures in the past two years" or "80% of jurisdictions who considered this legislation approved it."

It needs to be nipped in the bud. Don't let them start rolling a snowball into a snowman.

This country needs Patriot Pickets (or similar grassroots group) in every small and medium town to counteract this BS. Can you imagine what, say, Dubuqe would look like if that happened and each town within 100 miles sent one representative to protest? The Demanding Moms would be run out of town on a rail and the legiscritters would barricade themselves in their chambers.

    yeah, I can dream... :innocent0

As distrust of the mainstream media grows stronger, their message will increasingly be questioned. Don't forget that we live in the very bowels of the oppressor; don't lose sight of the map that shows how the country as a whole has moved from nearly complete inability to carry defensive weapons, to over 80% being Shall Issue or Constitutional Carry.

Because of our privileged position, we have been placed in the position of having to draw attention to the actions of the oppressor. Most states have left us in their dust, but we can, and will, continue the local struggle, and serve as a template for others who have yet to be freed.

The drawback is that while we see the problem, we are divided in how to address and solve it. This is the opposite of the condition of our oppressors, who organise as a single force to shove their agenda down the throats of their subjects.

Sadly, there are few billionaires on our side, buying media outlets, co-opting so-called journalists and purchasing politicians to toe the donors' lines. Even so, millions have been spent by the likes of Bloomberg to little effect, which is heartening.

Bloomberg as a person carries some negatives as an authoritarian while NYC mayor. Remember to connect those things to the anti movement he funds and cherishes. Everytown is the anti-civil rights movement bought and paid for by the billionaire who dictated how much soda and salt New Yorkers were allowed to eat.

Check out who the attorney generals are in the past couple elections around the nation. Pro-infringement groups are not only pushing state and local laws, but putting people in power to do things like nuke reciprocity agreements. Also we can't downplay how hard of a pro-infringement hit the courts got under obama.

While carry itself has expanded, the ways and places have been a target. We also have to be VERY careful of the mental illness pro-infringement front and terrorism front with things like the no-fly list. Pro-infringement groups are winning the national dialogue there, even in our own community.

Good point about the Leftist AG's elected in many states. Trump can start to even up the federal judicial appointments if he steps up nominations and the Schumer-run Senate ever considers them, but the states have to remedy their own bad AG selections.

I would argue that they are in fact winning. We are getting hammered by the courts and BS laws in Blue states.

There are a LOT of current infringements still in place. Can we even buy safety equipment, like q suppressor, without paying a fine and working through paperwork infringements? Saying we're winning is like the orioles saying they're winning in a game they're down 2-26 because davis just hit a homer. It's also why it's so infuriating for pro-infringement people to say our side just needs to compromise every time they bring up a new infringement.

We are winning in Red States and losing in Blue States.

On the national level, I think things are pretty much at a standstill.

This is exactly why the 2A needs to be positively identified by the potus & scotus as the law of the land & strengthened by ruling that state's rights don't have jurisdiction over issues enumerated in the Bill of Rights.
