Anyone here ever use a Black Hole Weaponry barrel? I'm thinking about buying one and looking for some feedback.

I think they have been bought out by someone. As I remember, they used to call their barrel profiles something like light, standard, match, bull. I don't think they advertised as a HB.

They are now owned by Columbia River Arms. The FAQ on their website (last item) says all of their barrel profiles besides their M4 profile are considered heavy barrel per information they received from the Licensing Division.

The one I got had a short chamber and a bore that was on the large side. For the money I expected it to be better.

I bought a few from them on sale within the last year. It took several weeks to get them. I haven’t assembled or gauged them yet. Most of if not all of their barrels are classified as HBAR. They have a document that spells it out. I didn’t have it done, but I’ve heard that they will mark the barrels as HBAR if requested if ordered from Columbia River.

You can order in stock from these places if you don’t feel like waiting for them to be built. I haven’t order from them though.

They are sold under Columbia River Arms now but supposedly have always been owned by them. Their website does address our unconstitutional restriction with approval from MSP. I found this barrel locally and is marked as HBAR on the barrel.

Did they fix this problem for you?

I was at a SOTAR build class and only had one barrel. Chad fixed the short headspace but there's nothing to be done about the bore dimensions.

For a little more cash I could've had a Criterion. Live and learn.

Good on Chad for fixing headspace and that's a bummer about the bore but nothing to be done for that. Even if BHW sent a new barrel their lead times are long. Criterion makes the barrel that I really want and I was trying to cut cost. I've read buy once cry once many times here.

I use a similar barrel to what the OP asked about for 2 gun. Mine is standard profile. Of course mine is about 6 years old at this point. Had it out on Friday and it's as accurate and reliable as ever.

As to BHW's QC: I have a few of their barrels and QC has always been good. If I had a problem like DutchV I would contact them and I'm pretty sure they'd make it right, though perhaps not as fast as one would like. They are quick to take your order and slow to build/ship it sometimes so that's a downside. If they had a barrel I wanted, I would still order knowing that.

That said, it is never a bad idea to buy a criterion barrel. They have the reputation that they have for a reason.
