nice buy! have fun shooting it
Mossbergs 500/590 Pros:
If Ejector Breaks or Wears out a Flat Head Screwdriver will change it out
If the Magazine Tube Gets damaged it unscrews for replacement, 870 require to be heated to losen solder and have a new on retinned and soldered back in.
If the Feed Latches wear out or break no tools are needed, on an 870 you need a special staking tool to reinstall them correctly.
Mossbergs safety is in a better place (Unless you add a pistol grip)
Mossbergs Action Button is in a more convient location
Mossberg had dual extractors which lends to better reliability under adverse conditions.
Mossbergs PASSED Military testing
Mossbergs are cheaper and lighter
Mossberg didnt have to redesign the feed assembly do prevent doublefeeds for patrol shotguns. Vibration and bumps would cause a shell to release with the pump forward and it would jam the gun. (Double feed will render the gun useless with the old design)
590's have the best ghostring sights for a production shotgun
Mossbergs (Since the receivers are aluminum) tend to rust less than blued or parkerized 870's
Downside is when you have to do a slug changeover you loose 2 rounds instead of one on an 870.
590/Ghost Ring Model with a speed feed stock, Surefire Pump, and Mesa Side Saddle is a perfect pump shotgun.
