I just sold my KONUS 1.5-6x 44mm Illuminated Duplex Reticle M30 KONUSPRO 30mm tube 46 mm for seventy bucks. Great Scope you can get one new for a couple of hundred.
Based on my personal experience it worked great. This grip was rock solid and fit perfectly unlike grip modules that just get close. I also like the SAR BP / CZ 75 better than the Sig and it cost about 1/4 as much too.
You are not thinking of the right plumbers putty. It's a two part epoxy stick that you kneed together into putty.
See PC Epoxy Putty or many products just like it.

Yes if you don't leave at least about 1/8" connected at the bottom they can fly apart in mid air. They all seem to fly apart just fin in water or ballistic gel.
Not really Jut tear off the excess aluminum foil and they fly straight.
If you split them too far down they will come apart in the air that that will mess with accuracy.
If you have a polymer frame handgun. Take a Dremel tool to the high points and add plumbers putty to the low spots. Grind, add, grind add. In a couple of hrs you will have a grip that fits you perfectly.
When casting lead put a piece of aluminum foil between the mold halves to mostly split the slug.
It will break in half on impact and the 2 halves tumble.
Ouch.
You can free float your barrel. If you want to use little pieces of bent wire to find out where you barrel vibration nodes are with the best loads that is helpful too
