      CMP 22 Ammo

2 months ago they were working on orders from the second week of December. Might have to adjust your expectations. I’m still waiting for my order from mid-January too. Luckily I found another 2K elsewhere so I’ll be adding to my stash.

      Magazine Size and Group Size

I’d have to guess at this point, but I’d say less than half the time I was behind the scope. Shoot, bolt back, reset rifle and breathe, on scope, on target, bolt forward, tune aim, shoot. If I don’t fire within 2 or 3 breath cycles I come off the scope and reset mentally. I shoot for small...

      Magazine Size and Group Size

50 yard groups for measuring the abilities of me and my rifle. I wouldn’t say I put together 10 really good shots, more like 10 decent shots. As long as I’m sub MOA with 10 I’m happy. <0.5” at 50 isn’t too tall an ask for mid range ammo off a bench. Starting to plink at 100 so I can learn to...

      Magazine Size and Group Size

I like trying to match 5 and 10 round group sizes as best I can. I’ll get tunnel vision and shoot for 30 minutes straight. I was trying to share the wealth and only order a brick at a time, but even 22LR is getting scarce. I might have to just start plinking instead of shooting groups.

As for the why jump to mags, the tension in my 10 rounders vary a good amount. This particular mag feels like it has a weaker spring. My other mags feel stiffer. I’ve noticed flyers more often with my 10 rounders regardless of ammo choice. It could be coincidences at times I’m paying attention...

      Magazine Size and Group Size

I wouldn’t mind it for plinking. I think the mags for my CZ 457 go up to 25, though. 30 must be an evil number. [emoji2369]

      Magazine Size and Group Size

Gun was shot off a bench with bipod and rear bag. The process felt normal and didn’t feel like a push or quick grab of the trigger. I was thinking more scraping lube or rubbing the bullet as it gets chambered with a weak spring that threw off the bullet angle while in the mag. Not sure if that’s...

      Magazine Size and Group Size

Stupid question time. I was at the range earlier and shot an outstanding 5 round group using my 5 round magazine. Followed it with a more typical 10 round group out of a 10 round magazine that had a flyer from hell on the last round - 1.1 inches low and right. I marked my mags so I can track it...

      .22 ammo chart by FPS

I’ve had significant improvements in ammo pickiness once I swapped my barrel for a GM bull barrel. Not everything shoots great, but I can plink with just about anything. Most subsonics will shoot decent and a handful will be good. I consider decent 2 MOA and good as 1 MOA. Most of my preferred...

Anyone else having trouble "pulling the trigger" on a new purchase?

I’m having the opposite problem. I’ve bought an upper and built a lower for a 300BLK AR, a conversion kit for my P80, and a couple CZ 457 models. Add in accessories, a 10/22 a month or so prior, some reloading equipment, and some replacement parts for my CZ Precision Chassis and now I need more...

      .22 ammo chart by FPS

You’re not missing much if you’re looking to shoot tiny holes in paper. At 100 yards there’s roughly a 3 foot dispersion out of my 10/22 judging from the impact splashes on the berm. At 50 yards it was on the high side of about 6”. I can get my calipers out later, but the same rifle shot 5...

      Picking a second gun

I’d try to find a loophole with the wife and buy an AR-15 lower and an M&P 15-22. Without knowing what regulations and restrictions are in the pipeline I’d like to have the possibility of being grandfathered in should anything come down. The M&P 15-22 will buy goodwill with the family and you...

      Rimfire Rifle Comps

That’s definitely a good way to go. That’s what I would’ve done if the excuse to get a rifle in the brand and action I wanted wasn’t presented. Be sure to read up on transitions with a semi. Seems like something I’d forget 90% of the time without the timer. Hope to see you out there eventually.

      Rimfire Rifle Comps

Thanks for the additional info. Stretching out the 22 sounds like fun. I’ll probably take it slow so I can dial things in at 200 and in first since it’s my first foray into shooting where wind reads can make a significant difference. I went with a CZ 457 Varmint and an Athlon Argos BTR...

      Rimfire Rifle Comps

Good deal. I’ll sign up for some coaching after I get my new rifle and accessories. Never know what shipping times will be like around Christmas. Thanks for the info. I’ll look into NVGC too.

      Rimfire Rifle Comps

I recently ordered a rifle and scope looking to get into NRL22 base class. Then I started looking on MDS for info. I looked through a bunch of posts here and it seems like MARS is the popular rimfire series. Is that what some of the more experienced shooters here see on the lines too? Is MARS...

      Bullets for reloading

Do you plan to get any 6.5mm bullets? Particularly interested in Hornady ELD-X.

WTB: Hogue Stock for Mossberg 500

Don’t forget about the extended times to ship and extended shipping times depending on who’s delivering. Christmas is getting close.

      My First Appleseed 12/5-12/6 2020

I think I’ll try one at AAFG next time. As cool as the automatic fire and black powder rifles were, I had a tough time hearing even with electronic muffs. I’m not sure if anyone else is aware, but the Revolutionary War Veterans Association is on the Amazon Smiles list of charitable...

      My First Appleseed 12/5-12/6 2020

Yes! After a day of recovery my arms where my biceps should be are starting to feel less pain from Saturday. I assumed it was from the weight of my rifle but I was probably muscling the rifle and my arm into position. I shot better with a tight sling and relaxed arm. It just took a little...
