Interesting. I was under the impression that a complete lower with a stock or brace can be transferred as either a riifle or pistol.
Mind you, I went to the dealer expecting to fill out a 77r and started the online process prior. I was surprised when they said I didn't need it.
I purchased a complete AR 15 lower from an IP here cash & carry with no 77r, just the 4473 form. Can you not just purchase a complete pistol lower and mate it with a complete upper or build the upper yourself?
Thanks fellas!
Freds Outdoors is right up the street from me. They allow up to .308 long guns, but it's a 50 yards in door range. Good enough for me. Hopefully someone there can look over it before I shoot.
Figured I'd update for those interested. Just need a mount for my Arisaka Defense light, BUIS, a class or two, and some range time. Thanks to everyone who offered some insightful information.
Picked up the MAIN piece to the puzzle today. Heavy barrel manufactured by Faxon for Engagement Armament (per their specs). 16" .223 Wylde 4150CMV 5 Rifling nitride with a 1/8 twist.
Found a Rock River heavy barrel for a decent price. Are they any good? Can't find much info on it other than it's a 1:9 twist and non-chrome lined. Not even sure if it has M4 feed ramps.
Yea, this is what I was thinking. The Stag for $600 + a free float & furniture I like will put it around $700. Still on the fence, but glad I still have time to decide.
So I just got back from Gym Ratz.... empty handed. The Ruger seems great for the price, but I think they Stag they had for $600 seemed like a better deal. Either way I wasn't in love in either. I know after making it how I'd like it to look and feel that $499 will turn into $700+ real quick. So I...
Sound advice and that was my initial thoughts. Just wasn't sure if the Ruger was worth upgrading in the future. The others are a little out of my budget.
I see JSE has a custom complete rifle with a 16" carbine Hbar chrome lined option for around $500. Would you guys suggest that over say the Ruger AR 556?
Im looking, but I don't see much about JSE's built AR's other than they might use DTI parts. PSA seems to be the budget build-a-rifle...
Thank you, and I didn't realized that. I have seen someone mention the Faxon Gunner in regards to looking for an MD compliant barrel as well, but wasn't sure of the quality. Price seems fair. Bear Creek seem to have plenty heavy barrels, but I haven't seen many positive reviews for them. I'll...
Not sure what you're trying to say, but if I gathered all the info I needed, or seen that AR build sticky before I registered smh, I probably wouldn't have made an account. Yesterday evening I saw GymRatz thread for a Ruger AR 556 for $499, and woke up with all intentions to go purchase one...
