In 1976 my dad picked up a Remington 760 in .30/06, put a Redfield 2x7 on it and stuck it in the gun room. Where it promptly sat for 8 years until I turned 14. I was finally old enough to go to the family deer camp in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and it was handed to me.
Fast forward to last...
I've been checked more since Residential Goose than I have in over 30 years. Probably because of the pandemic and how many new hunters there are this year.
Depends on the time of the season and if my freezer is getting close to full. I am a meat hunter, first and foremost if it's late in the year and I don't have four deer in the freezer yet, I am shooting. If the freezer is full and I am looking for something to mount on the wall he gets a pass...
Marlin 1894 in .45 Colt with the Buffalo Bore 260 gr 'Deer Grenade' +P ammo. It got the job done in Michigan when I couldn't get to the Upper Peninsula for hunting. Can't see why this combo wouldn't work in the straight wall areas.
I am planning on carrying my Springfield Armory V16 Longslide in .45 Super. Took several deer with it back when I lived in Mi. Have to lower my range though, the Buffalo Bore ammo is no where near as consistent in accuracy as the now defunct Triton ammo used to be.
I used a friend's Ascend 128T twice this year so far. And I am hooked. Definitely make sure you have a PFD and keep those waders cinched. I am currently shopping for a new more comfortable PFD that will work with my jacket and waders. The one I used when I went hunting didn't feel right when I...
Interesting. My V16 in .45 Super has a manufacturing date of 2000. Love that pistol. Extremely accurate, especially with the now defunct Triton ammunition. It was my EDC back when I lived in Michigan. Harvested a lot of whitetails, 3 hogs and a black bear with it. Carried it when I hunted Sitka...
This is a very well thoughtout and understandable response to the proposed changes. I can see those points as valid.
Whereas the OP sounds like Bernie Sanders sitting in one of his three houses telling me I need to pay more taxes.
I have suddenly developed the desire to add an inline muzzleloader/interchangeable centerfire rifle to my collection. I know about the Handi rifle, and the Knight KP1. Does CVA make one? Possibly Bergara? Though I doubt any of those others have the aftermarket support that the Encore has.
Thanks
Two of the hogs and the bear were right around 20-25 yds and I was intending to hit the shoulders. The third hog was facing me.
I don't remember all the details but it took 3 shots to put the bear down. One shoulder was destroyed, but it failed to penetrate to the other side.
All of the...
I have one of the original Springfield Armory V16 in .45 Super from the factory. With the 200 gr JHP from Triton I was getting 1350+ fps from the 6" barrel and from a stable rest was capable of putting all seven from the magazine in a 10" circle at 50 yds. Sadly Triton no longer exists and...
Moved to the Eastern shore from Michigan a little over 9 months ago. Finally got all the junk that comes with moving and a new job sorted out and looking forward to getting back to shooting and hunting.
