Thanks for the note Dave. I am checking on that one. I appreciate the compliments on the book from everyone. Truly a humbling experience for me with this whole experience.

Preview of my upcoming book on Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifles and other Finnish weaponry

Thank you! I hope it meets your expectations! And yes, I most certainly will. Thank you, it is much appreciated! I think that @h2u said it best below. Bowser's book is a product of its time (mid-1990s) when formalized collecting knowledge and the internet were in their infancy. I was able...

Preview of my upcoming book on Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifles and other Finnish weaponry

Hi folks, I've been on here for close to a decade (mostly lurking, but occasionally posting). I spent the last five years writing The Finnish Mosin-Nagant: Three Line Rifle to Ukko Pekka, my magnum opus on Finnish history and small arms collecting. It is now available for pre-order at the...

      CMP Special Forces M1D

My most recent acquisition is a Special Forces turn-in M1D that was acquired by the CMP in the late 1990's. A small group of these were sold in a lottery by the CMP in 1999-2000. From what I have read, there were 156 of these rifles that were turned in by the US Army, specifically the 19th and...

Finnish used New England Westinghouse M91 with RT2 Stock Disc

Yes, but the M39s are all post war discs from a handful of units (JPSTO, PSTO, and a few others). The pre war discs have a huge variety of potential units, but the most commonly seen ones are: RT KTR various signal units HUOLT The "line" units seem less common, at least on M91s. Maybe...

Finnish used New England Westinghouse M91 with RT2 Stock Disc

Looks like a typical Finnish marked and rebuilt New England Westinghouse. I don't see anything wrong with it, its a keeper. I have about a dozen. They're especially difficult to find. I've found more than a few that I've had to pass on because they've been messed with. Bubba always picks the...

Finnish used New England Westinghouse M91 with RT2 Stock Disc

As many here probably already know, I am huge fan (and collector) of Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifles with brass unit discs. I managed to acquire this one last month. This is a M91 made by New England Westinghouse (NEW). As with all NEW M91's it is marked 1915 for the year of production, even though...

      My CMP M1911A1 (Remington Rand)

Wow, terrific memory you have. Thank you for your service as well, from one vet to another. The 47th sadly ceased to exist in 1991.

      My CMP M1911A1 (Remington Rand)

I shoot very few pieces in my collection. Too many trips to the range in my army career to make it enjoyable. Plus I hate cleaning guns (although I always do it lest they lose value). I might buy a blued High Standard barrel and correct main spring housing to correct the changes, but I will keep...

      My CMP M1911A1 (Remington Rand)

So I applied like everyone else and waited anxiously for any news. On 20181107 I received the following email from the CMP titled "cmp 1911 order acknowledgement" It stated: "This email is to notify you that your order has been received and you have been assigned a number through the...

Finnish Captured and Reworked 1941 Tula SVT-40

Actually this one has a Soviet stock. From what I've read, apparently the Finns did make replacement stocks at Lindelhof (where this was reworked), but I have never seen one. Thanks, its one of the best looking stocks in my collection. The gun is alright too I guess :)

Never say never, but it will be one of the last rifles to go when I do sell.

      Nagant Pistol ID

I would guess the date and serial were ground off during an overzealous refurb process. Still a neat find.
