I’ve been running a couple polymer 80% ar lowers for a while now. After an inspection I found something interesting...
There’s a polymer 80 (gen 2) that has been used to build a 300 blackout carbine that has a little over 100 rounds through it and developed a hairline crack at the top of the...
I promise I will have a range report soon! I’ve been very inactive in all hobbies for a while now with the mrs dealing with health issues, traveling out of state regularly to aid with an ailing family member and preparing for a career change. There’s a huge backlog of range testing I need to do...
I’m loving all the discussion here! I’m more familiar with “modern” and completely overlooked antique arms... definitely adds a whole other side to the coin. Maybe break it down into rough eras?
It all depends on your skill set. I can say it’s a great learning experience but make sure you do your homework. I highly recommend picking up a copy of: the m1 garand complete assembly guide by Walt Kuleck with Clint McKee.
I’ve been thinking about that for a while but after being in the auto body industry so long it’s ingrained in me that you need to scuff parts before applying a sprayed on finish. I’ve tried a few times to put a clear on a polished surface and it never has worked for me in the long run. I’ll just...
Time to pick some brains...
What would be the longest produced firearm of any given design? I’ll break it down into a couple parts:
Longest serving rifle, pistol and shotgun used continuously by a major military without massive design changes?
Longest produced commercial rifle pistol...
Thanks! It’s actually just a bunch of sanding and polishing, no chrome.
Forgive all the fingerprints on it! I’ll have to get some better pictures after a quick detailing
Sorry no range report, things have been crazy on the home front but I did snap some pics of the room. I didn’t clean up much for the pics so it could look better!
Thank you. Yep it’s walnut, came from: http://www.blackgunswood.com/
With an 18” barrel and full stock it’s a healthy weight and just feels good in the hands. Next I need to do a matching polished bayonet
I’m curious to see what you end up with
Does anyone know of any dummy m14 receivers available anywhere? I have enough parts to put together a wall hanger but need a receiver. Either that or I need a norinco receiver

I haven’t heard of the vz52-52/57 ever having any magazines with more than a 10 round capacity.
Anyone have any knowledge on this thing?
Almost forgot to post my pick, was going to say arisaka, carcano or any French rifle for the unwarranted bad stigma they all got but I’ll go out on a limb and say the Czech vz52. In my eyes a much better gun than the sks.
The m1941 Johnson has a vote from me too, if it entered trials earlier...
It is more geared towards milsurp but this post is not limited to milsurp by any means. I added “in service” just to add another potential layer of discussion
