-1 for Macrotech. Went there last year to test shoot some new bows with cash in hand. The guy kept insisting that I shoot with my eyes closed...yeah I get it you focus on things other than where the arrow hits but really? Even the fifth time I shot the same bow all I hear is "close your...
I killed a piebald last year on Liberty and it didn't have any negative effects on my life or luck. Getting half body mount done. Should have it back in the next couple of months but my taxi does amazing work so I'm not pushin.
I would love to stick a melanistic deer. That would be a whole...
Thanks guys. By far the biggest deer I have ever taken. Honestly had no clue how big he was until I walked up to him. Kind of makes sense why I thought it what was a 20 yard shot was really a 35 yard shot.
Shot came out perfect. The pic shows the exit wound. Entrance was a about 3"...
True and I have thought about this. Usually I just do this with does. If I kill a buck he is staying out of sight and covered up with brush until I return with the cart.
Pretty sad we have to worry about these things.
If it was on a trail maybe someone killed it and then dragged it to the trail where they could find it easily after they went and retrieved their cart or dropped off their stand and gear prior to the drag.
I do this on liberty all the time but always tag it first.
First two weeks of November is the rut usually and it is very consistent year to year. Saturday I watched a small 8 walk under me following a doe but that is typical small buck behavior this early. Last week of October is usually pretty good. Bucks are chomping at the bit but the does haven't...
I think the exact time I shot him was at 6:38pm. It was after the rain quit but I had movement the whole day even during periods of high rain fall. The timing aspect is inline of normal buck movement being in the last 30 minutes of light. I don't think the rain affected them that much.
2016 Liberty Buck
I was lucky enough to take this 8 on Liberty Saturday evening over a scrape. Got in the stand at a public access point around one o'clock and got soaked. I think it down poured five times.
For a doe I roll the tag up and wrap a zip tie around it and it gets placed in the ear with the zip tie going through the ear. Bucks I wrap it around an antler and zip tie it.
Any cheap pants will do the trick. I personally like all cotton compared to all polyester clothes during the heat. The cotton tends to breath better for me. When its really hot (like the past few days) I will wear gym shorts and a regular tshirt to my tree and then change into camo. Put the...
And make sure you tag the deer using the field tag before starting to drag. Every time the DNR stops me they always ask to see the field tag on the animal.
I would also suggest somehow attaching the confirmation numbers on any racks you keep (on the back of the plaque or mount) for record...
Ive had two liver shot experiences. Both hunched their back and hobbled about 20 yards and just stood there until they either laid down or fell over. First was with a muzzy three blade. It stood there for about 10 minutes. The second was with a Magnus Stinger. That deer stood there for 30...
I stuck a small doe Saturday morning and passed on a decent 8 Friday evening, all public ground. I was out the first two days and it was brutal. Had to take a change of clothes to change into after getting all setup so I wasn't sitting there soaked in sweat the whole time.
