Robinson Armament Early Production M96 Rifle in Detail

Great stuff, thanks for posting. I’m a huge fan of the XCR but never did pick up M96 due to scarcity of parts

      Lever action 45/70 in stock

Normal factory loads, loaded to trapdoor-level pressures — 405 gr at ~1250 FPS — are really pleasant to shoot in my Marlin 1895. Reloads at 1000 fps feel like a 22 rimfire. On the other hand, my elk load is a 405 grain bullet at 1850 fps, nearly 3100 fpe. For comparison, a typical 30-30 load...

Maryland-MoCo Resident buying a gun in VA

Cheaper Than Dirt sucks. They’ve been the most blatant price gougers for at least the last eight years, sticking it to gun owners at every opportunity. I will never buy from them. Why not use Engage or Atlantic Guns for the transfer?

      Looking for a heavy hitter

Reloading is the ticket. My elk load is mid-level, a 405gr JSP over enough RE-7 to reach about 1750fps, in the neighborhood of 2800 fp energy. I’ve gone hotter by 100fps but didn’t see the point of beating up the gun or my shoulder. But there are some lever gun loads available commercially...

      Looking for a heavy hitter

You’re looking at the anemic Trapdoor-level loads for the 45-70. Marlin-level loads reach 3,600 foot-pounds easily.

      Dillon down the tubes

Wow, you come across as an absolute joy to deal with. You don’t want to believe what the Dillon guy tells you, which has been corroborated as completely accurate by others here, and THIS is how you respond to him?

New from Trappe on the Eastern Shore

Welcome! Welcome back to shotgunning!! You've got a number of great shotgun clubs on the Eastern shores. If you're interested in recreational or registered skeet, these clubs have the greatest bunch of guys you'll meet. The Maryland registered skeet community is VERY active and welcoming...

      Standard Deviation Relevance... ?

In my experience, a high SD load is less likely to be accurate. But there are no hard and fast rules -- a low SD load can be inaccurate, and a high SD load can be really accurate. It's fun to measure the SD and interesting to see how it changes as you get towards the hotter end (usually) but...

Oops — meant no-lock!! Such a blight on a perfectly safe firearm.

      Consignment Guns

Took a no-LOCK snub to pull me outta the woodwork :-) I’ve had several 19/66’s and always regret selling them. Time to get one back in the fold.
