Tonight I set up on a saddle next to a big ravine. I had heard a coyote howling there as I left from deer hunting a few weeks ago. I think I saw a couple of yotes flashing by on the other side of the saddle (I thought I was on top of the saddle but I wasn't). Didn't see anything in my fields of...
I hunted deer on APG about 8 years ago. I sat in my ground blind and blew on my coyote call a couple of times. A few minutes later I heard a bunch of coyotes runing around behind the blind. I wanted to get a deer though so I let them be. When we were getting ready to leave we heard a huge number...
I'm not sure if I'm going to start doing this this year or not. Lord knows we have beaucoup coyotes all over the area I can hunt. I think that this year I'll just get the tactics down with the electronic callers etc. I'm also going to skin and tan at least one yote to see if I can do it right...
You Maryland Dems kill me. Vote for Biden and the Commies then pile on to anything you can.
We're just hunting for food here. You guys are probably just hunting for your own gratification. Like the guys on tv who say they're donating the deer for hungry families.
Spare me...
I checked how the rifle shoots at 200 yards first today. It was shooting over a foot high so I went to 100 yards and brought it down to 2 inches above bulls-eye. That put the shot at bulls-eye at 200 yards. 300 yards was a little below that so I think I'm good.
Yeah, I need to see where it actually hits at 300 yards (which I can do at the range I use). I'm going by what the guy on "Guns And Amoo" said a couple of years ago on the tv show. He said the SF guys use a 300 yard zero by going 6 inches above bulls-eye. It seemed to be pretty close when I...
I shot a doe a couple of years ago at about 200 yards at a pretty flat trajectory with my 6.5 Creedmoor. Double lung so I think I can shoot pretty good when the equipment is right. Shooting from up high throws a curve though. :)
Last year I got my first deer with my 270 at a little over 200...
Me and a young friend went to the spot today. A deer came out about 400 yards away but stayed behind a bunch of tree limbs and I couldn't get a clear shot. Another deer about 600 yards away (according to me buddy with a range finder) came out. He missed a couple of times so I moved and took a...
I'm asking because a few years ago I was sitting on a hillside and was missing deer in a cornfield about 120 yards away. I kept thinking my scope was bad but it checked out OK on a range.
I was looking at the deer today on my spotting scope. There's a couple of nice does that are just what I...
I saw an episode of Eastman's Hunting where a guy showed how to take the Tenderloin out from the top of an elk without gutting the elk. Can you do this with deer also?
I'm planning on trying to shoot some deer from high on a Missouri River bluff. I used my range finder today and the deer will be 350 to 450 yards away. I'll be up pretty high as well. I'm going to zero my 300 Win Mag rifle at 6 inches above bulls eye at 100 yards. That should zero me at 300...
Found a couple of spots that should be ideal for hunting with the 44 Mag. High on a bluff between a couple of saddles. I bumped deer off two of the saddles tonight as I scouted. I'll sit between them before dusk and see what happens. The shots on either side should be less than 50 yards.
Or is that Rossi 44 Magnum Carbine?
Whatever...I tried to use some handloads with the max load of 800X and a 180 grain Hornady XTP bullet but the load was blowing out the primer holes to be too big. I scaled down the load by two steps (per the Hornady manual) and it shot them pretty good to...
I've run into something weird about reloading 44 Mag ammo. I started using my Rossi Lever action rifle in 44 Mag. I had a bunch of cases loaded with primers so I've been using those. I loaded them up and shot some. After that I cleaned them up and started putting primers into the cases. I used...
