      I think the tactical model mini 14 is .223 Remington only...Ranch model is both .223/5.56 with a Wylde chambering. Love my Ranch 582 series but would like an AR as well.

      1858 New Model Army

      I use .454 RB, 25-28 grains of Pyrodex-P, #11 caps cause 10's are elusive and clean it with hot soapy water, dry thoroughly and lube for storage. Mine is all steel, no brass other than trigger guard...caps are Remington, balls are Hornady swaged.

      I've tanned my own deer hides but don't know that I'd want to tackle a hide as large as elk...course you could build a teepee frame after scraping and brain tanning and smoke it with some punk wood.
