But let me see if I got THIS straight... M1As are banned, but AR-10s are not banned...? :wtf:
Yeah, that makes a heckuva lot of sense, or else not... but then, I'm expecting sense from banners, which is an exercise in futility to start with. My apologies.
That's what I was afraid of. Completely nonsensical  -- as iH8DemLibz accurately notes,
This, on the other hand:
gave me a laugh like I haven't had in a while!
Thank you, gentlemen!
So, what is the final status of the M1A? Is is completely banned in Maryland, only certain models, or what? IIRC, it was on the ban list when SB-281 was being considered, but I'm not sure what the final decision was. Thank you!
P.S. What I'd really LIKE to see is a statement like that of Hughes Spring, TX, Sheriff Randy Kennedy, or Brevard County, FL, Sheriff Wayne Ivey! But in Maryland, I'm afraid that's asking for the moon...
Morning folks,
I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback or insights into where Carroll County Sheriff Jim DeWees stands on issues of importance to Maryland shooters.
Under Sheriff Tregoning, States Attorney Barnes, and the previous Board of Commissioners, we had the "2nd Amendment...
From the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association website:
"The following sheriffs, state sheriff’s associations, and police chiefs have vowed to uphold and defend the Constitution against Obama’s unconstitutional gun control measures. We applaud these public servants for their...
I know and understand that there is going to be a tendency to want to vote for DeWees, just because he has an "R" after his name, but in this case, the more viable alternative may be Vince Pacelli. Yes, he's running as a Democrat, but I heard him speak at a presentation by the Institute on the...
I do not live in Anne Arundel, I live in Carroll County, but I had a chance to meet Joe and hear him speak at a presentation in Westminster by the Institute on the Constitution, and was very favorably impressed. FWIW, I strongly second the recommendation.
Tom
Along with the recurrent one (squatter's camp) along Railroad Avenue (Route 27) in Westminster, there used to be one, while I was working as a security guard at the Mall, on the big hill right across from Boxcov's, at the junction of 27 and 140. Not sure what the status of either of them is at...
Probably from this:
Unlawful Activites
In addition to the regulations listed elsewhere in this guide, it is unlawful to:
[...]
• Hunt, trap or shoot at wildlife within 150 yards of an occupied building or camp without permission of the owner or occupant. For archery hunters this...
FWIW, I have an "inside source" and can confirm that there is a serious move afoot among at least certain Carroll County Dems to "go RINO." Whether there will be enough to seriously affect things I can't say, of course, but I do know there are at least some, they are passionate about it, and...
Already on both Facebook pages, FF Jim! And I hope to be at some of the Maryland events this year, too, but I need to find employment in MD so I can relocate back home. If anybody has any leads, I'd be grateful. Engine4, thank you very much! I appreciate that. :-)
Hi folks,
(Please excuse the cross-posting.)
Some of you (hopefully many of you!) may be aware of "Project Appleseed," the program of the Revolutionary War Veteran's Association that promotes rifle marksmanship seasoned with a strong dose of American history (especially the events...

All of that said, of course, Mr H is right: the chance of getting anything like that through the present General Assembly and past the Governor is somewhere between vanishingly slim and none... unfortunately.
"Strict scrutiny" is the most rigorous standard by which the Constitutionality of a law is examined: that is to say, it is the most protective standard. The other two are "intermediate scrutiny" and "rational basis."
"Strict scrutiny is a form of judicial review that courts use to determine...
I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I only recently realized that Maryland's Constitution has no language specifically protecting the right to bear arms. Now, it's true that the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution hasn't kept the gun-grabbers from grabbing what they can, but no wonder it's so...
It's an issue of fairness, it seems to me. We must at all costs be fair! Now, let's see. What would be the equivalent to "suspended" for a governor? Maybe... impeached???
If this was asked and answered already, I apologize, but I didn't see it: if one comes into the State with firearms purchased while a resident of another State, but after 10/1/2013, are these firearms grandfathered (but must be registered)?
