Hunting Rifle's Weight a big deal?

Honestly, I think it depends on the person. My 300 WinMag is a heavy one, coming in around 10.5 pounds with optic, but my favored rifle due to its range, power and accuracy. When I was in Canada going after moose in some thick stuff there were times that I could have appreciated something...

Best good 30 Cal Suppressor for the money

I have a direct thread YHM Phantom. No problems, I really like it

      300 blk

Good round for deer at reasonable ranges. I dropped a doe at 40 yards with with the 110 grain Barnes TAC out of my 16" build. Terminal ballistics were rather impressive.

      Axis & Allies Upcoming Season

Yeah, the recoil is a bit stiff...but still fun to shoot. Sounds like a lot of fun, should justify the two hour drive. Thanks.

      Axis & Allies Upcoming Season

This sounds interesting. I recently inherited a Enfield jungle carbine-at the risk of sounding like an idiot, would that be considered sporterized since the barrel is only 18"? And where is the match held?

I've used Clint's for years and have never been disappointed.

      Optic for 300BLK pistol

For my 300 Blackout, I use an EOTech with a Vortex 3x magnifier. It's mainly used for hogs/deer at 100 yds or less, and this setup works rather nicely. This is perfect for low light shooting, and the 3x magnifier makes things a little easier for the longer shots. Hard to go wrong with what a...

Leupold Mark 4 Series scopes available?

I think they're being discontinued, but I could be wrong. You might find a few around that are used or on closeout.

      New Gunsmith

I've used them for some minor stuff, prices seemed reasonable and the work was good.

      Recommendations for 300 blk optic

I use a red dot with a 3x magnifier. Good for close in and decent magnification for shots out to 100 yds.

NATO CCI 34 primers and load impact

Interesting. I used 34s to work up a 308 load (when I couldn't find any other large primers) and wasn't too impressed. I decided to use them to try and develop a hunting load for my 300 WM. Found a load that grouped 3/8", which greatly exceeded my expectations. Might be worth changing...

I use Carlson's in my Versamax. No complaints

anyone here have, or used, a Sig Sauer Whiskey3/5 scope?

All right, just got back from the range today, so I have a better feel on the optic... My rifle is a custom 300 WM hunting rifle, designed to put critters down at long range, and it's capable of 1/2 MOA. I managed to get the rifle sighted in at 100 yards with very little fuss, 4 rounds at 25...

anyone here have, or used, a Sig Sauer Whiskey3/5 scope?

I don't have a Whiskey 3, but I just picked up a Tango 4 to mount on my 300 WM. First impressions are that it's a beast of a scope, good glass, however, I haven't sighted it in yet or put it through it's paces. I'll see what happens in a few weeks when I get it out for some extended range...

      Shootout in Dundalk

As a general rule, I was taught in TCCC that a tourniquet can be applied, even when not needed, and left on for up to two hours with no adverse or long lasting effects. Not likely to be a problem in most urban areas where hospitals are nearby. I think the longest recorded time was a tourniquet...

      2016 Duck season

Had a pretty good season on the little pond, several mallards over the 2nd and 3rd splits, even a few geese.

      Hornady 147 grain 9MM bullets

I used Hornady FMJ 147gr in a 9mm load using W231 years ago. I was always pleased with the accuracy of the round, and it was very controllable. I ended up using that load for a number of matches. Alas, when a certain president got elected, components became hard to find, and the price of...

      Any Hunting AR setups here?

300 Blackout, 16" 1/8 twist free float barrel on a rifle I built using an Engage Armament upper and lower. I topped it with a EOtech and 3x magnifier. My wife is a bit recoil adverse and wanted something semi auto with a simple reticle, hence this build. When finished, I was making hits out...

      Thompson Center Impact?

I don't think you'll be disappointed. I picked one up last year, I've shot three deer with it so far. 250 grain shockwaves over 100 grains pyrodex. I get around 2.5" groups at 100 yards, certainly good enough to hunt around my property. Easy to maintain/clean, and you can't beat the price.
