Sorry to go a bit off topic here, but I have a stripped lower and was wanting to build a rifle (not another pistol). I was thinking 9mm (because it's cheap) or something more exotic. Is the 6.5 Grendel build likely to be better with a 20" barrel? It sounds interesting.
Also I assume as long...
I guess what I'm saying is that I see so many people specify a pre 2013 lower in these build when it doesn't matter per se. A lower purchased after 281 can be made into a pistol.

S&W L frame is what you want. The K frame (686) is going to be the heavier duty bodies you see. I think the 64, 65, 66 are the L frames. They will handle .357 as well but if you are going to shoot it a lot some would suggest getting the 686.
That's what I thought. I've got my lower built out but the PSA pistol tube didn't come with a castle nut. Google gives mixed results on that.
Anyone else running a pistol buffer tube with no castle nut?
Now to look for an upper...

Lots of inspiration here lol
From a "pistol" stand point, is there any difference what your can do with a pre sb281 and post sb281 lower?

Understood that this is not legal advice.
Maybe I will just build a pistol OR buy a stamp for an SBR. Seems easier. I'm just not sold on how much fun a pistol will be to shoot.
Thanks for all of the other info as well.
I bought a stripped lower recently because I found a good deal. I was considering building it out with an upper from PSA for .300AAC as a pistol or rifle.
I've been perusing threads here and mostly came to the thought that I should build it out as a pistol first. I ordered a LPK with a carbine...
I feel like I am always able to find some good deals at this show. I find JHP ammo for about 20% under what you'd pay online (and no shipping to boot!). I also bought a 10/22 takedown there for $300 cash, which beats almost any price I see online.
