      legal to receive handgun from mfg?

      I will have to send a Springfield XDs 9 back to the mfg for repair work. I understand that it is legal to ship to them via fedex. Is it legal for them to return it directly to me and not through a FFL? If the pistol is received back post Oct 1 are there any issues with not having a HQL?
