Take her to the range. Show her how responsible you are with the weapon. Have her shoot or put her in a firearms class. Nothing changes a gun-phobia like putting holes in paper. It will empower her and she might want a weapon of her own. Just take it slow.
The stand your ground law's main benefit is to protect the citizen from over-zealous prosecution from the DA's office. Of course Holder wants it gone; he's the Atourney General. Makes his job easier and lets jerk prosecutors advance their political careers.
Don't you find it a bit ironic (and hypocritical) that le departments sell off their old service weapons but support gun buy-backs that destroy our old weapons? They are flooding the market with cheap guns! It's an outrage (sarcasm)!
