Remington 700 SPS or ACC ?

Stainless vs blued steel... I have read that stainless barrels take longer to heat up to the point where the barrel starts throwing flyers compared to regular steel. On the other hand, once it does heat up, takes longer to cool. I can't confirm if this is true or not, nor how much you'd have...

      M&P 40, Need Night Sights

I also put the Meprolights on mine. Good, low price option. Not TOO hard to install yourself. The rear was easy to drive out with a nice set of punches. The front was a bear to get out but finally got it. The worst part is making up a way to brace the slide solid so you can start working on...

      M&P9 Trigger Improvement

Here was my experience on the Apex kit with measurements from a Lyman trigger pull gauge... http://www.mdshooters.com/showpost.php?p=1014257&postcount=20 Too bad the thing didn't come from the factory this way, but the end result is still worth it in my opinion.

      Springfield XD cerakoted slide

Very cool. Love the black highlight. I have my hunting rifle in pieces ready to take to Bollinger next time I'm out that way. Then I keep thinking about my S&W M&P and how good it would look with some pizzazz itself. Hmmm...

      Springfield XD vs S&W M&P

This is the kit I got... I know some of the major online stores carry it too. Looks like $90 now. https://apextactical.com/store/product-info.php?pid35.html If you can drive out a couple drift pins and not lose tiny little springs then it is a fairly easy DIY job. I believe this kit would make...

      Springfield XD vs S&W M&P

Since the M&P trigger came up in the discussion I'll add this. I got the M&P because the fit and feel just was better for my hand. Not a single issue, failure, anything. That being said, I was NOT a fan of the trigger when I got it. Very gritty on the take up, a harsh mid pull striker block...

      My New M&P9

In simple terms ... the USB striker block makes it easier for the trigger return bar to engage the striker block. Has a much rounder profile so you don't feel the resistance when it makes contact. The Hard Sear is a much nicer sear block that breaks a lot easier and more precise. And the new...

      Fixed my flinch...kind of

I developed a flinch last year with my .300WSM. Hard to overcome the preparation of getting wallopped by that in a light rifle. I spent a LOT of time dry firing with snap caps to basically rebuild my entire trigger squeeze process. Helped immensely, as did shooting a couple hundred .22 rounds...

      My New M&P9

Very nice. I have a new M&P .40 and just had my second range outing this weekend. Well... by range I mean my dad's property in PA popping some steel plates. What a fun shooter. Don't think I posted this here yet, but for the people on the fence about the Apex kit in an M&P, DO IT... doit. Here...

Maryland Shall Issue - Hearings This Week - 2/07/11

I'm kinda new around here and not what you would call an activist or lobbyist by any means. I've gotten back into hunting over the past few years and only more recently have I gotten back into more firearms "hobbies" in general. But following this ordeal has been an eye opening experience to say...

      The journey beings...

I recently got an M&P 40 from the good fellas at Hafer's. Only have been able to run a couple hundred rounds through it but I sure do like it so far. Although I will say, out of boredom in the winter, what else was I to do when cooped up in the house with a new pistol... install the Apex kit. It...

What are you Reloading right now and why

That's perfect. Not a lot of load data out there on the RL17 but the velocities published so far seem encouraging... if they are accurate to match. I think anything over 3150 will suit me fine. Not looking to win a match here... but if big ol' "drop tine" shows himself at around 750 yards next...

What are you Reloading right now and why

Towards the other end of quiet and subsonic... I'm planning my upcoming season with my .300 WSM. Been using IMR4350 and 150 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips at about 3075 fps. My new material list has RL17 and Berger 155 Hunting VLDs in Norma brass. If I can get about 3200 fps and 3/4 ... even 1 moa...

      New guy from Williamsport

Thanks all. Yup. That was me in Hafer's this morning doing the wonderful paperwork for the great state of MD. :innocent0 Got me a nice pre-Christmas bonus and just spent it on a S&W M&P 40. Now the real fun begins.

      New guy from Williamsport

Just found this forum recently and wanted to say hi. Already got some great benefits from this site... finding out a bit about Hafer's, which is all of about 3 miles from my house. As a result, I have my first handgun purchase in the works! I mostly do deer hunting, target shooting, and...
