      Plated vs FMJ Load Data

Like hardcast, there are considerations, and a LOT of variables on what will work. I can tell you though, I have had great luck with Berrys thick plated bullets in 357. They have a cannelure, so crimping works out much better, far less chance of setback in a tube mag or tearing the plating...

      Plated vs FMJ Load Data

I load a ton of plated, some say to use cast data, some say jacketed. I use jacketed data, but start low with standard Xtreme, berrys and Rainier, and keep under 1200fps. Berrys and Xtreme have the hard plate versions good for 1500, I have pushed them faster than that in some calibers, and...

Should have bought a better suppressor....

I have demo-ed the original 46, and newer 36m and 46m, ended up buying the 36M as it was better in every way, unless you absolutely had to have 45cal capability. Depending on what you are doing with it, and what else you may want to put t on, the Omega 9K and Spectre are awesome, but pistol...

Should have bought a better suppressor....

End caps can help, but you have to consider the can, and what you want to use it on. 45cal cans tend to be huge and have mediocre performance on smaller calibers like 5.56 being the gas stream doesn't get stripped as efficiently in the baffles, and basically hits a wall at the end cap. Fun...

Should have bought a better suppressor....

Suppressor design is fairly advanced, and tuned for different volumes, pressures, and velocities of gas. Rifle cal cans like YHM's Resonator series have tough baffles with a large volume, and baffle designs and spacing to initiate cross jetting, where the stream of gas circulates in the can to...

Looking for light 9mm suppressor suggestions

Pewscience has the full size, but seems the K is roughly comparable to the Omega 9K with most testing I can find, low to mid 130s at the muzzle and ear with 147gr subs

Looking for light 9mm suppressor suggestions

It is a cool design, but has MAJOR drawbacks. It's designed as a direct thread PCC can, handled one, was surprised they didn't have a modular mount. It isn't so much that it doesn't need a booster, it can't run one. It's light enough that some pistols can still run without a booster, but many...

      Banish brand suppressors

I have demo-ed a couple, some like them, but I was underwhelmed, and a little confused by the Silencercentral process compared to buying from a local shop or Silencershop. They are a basic cone baffle design, kinda remind me of the form 1 kits. Relatively large and expensive compared to the...

Thinking about building a PCC, AR in .45 ACP

A couple of my AR9 builds. For blowback, The 2 most important things are the feed ramp/cone, and the buffer. I like Taccom and Macon barrels/BCGs, full stroke are a bit more reliable, short stroke cycle quicker, less gas to the face, and less dot movement. the 10oz KVP buffer feels good and...

Thinking about building a PCC, AR in .45 ACP

I was thinking About your builds when this came up, you do your homework on this stuff, and have some cool rifles to show for it. Macon makes decent stuff, their current AR45 adapter takes 1911 mags instead of UMP. Really wish someone would come up with a gas delayed blowback upper for PCCs...

      Va knife laws

Yes, lots of BS with knife laws, in PA up till it was repealed, you could have an auto provided it was for a "dramatic performance". I joined kniferights when they started pushing PA to repeal the switchblade ban. They managed to end most knife restrictions in a single law and get it signed...

Thinking about building a PCC, AR in .45 ACP

There are a few people I know that built them, usually finnicky and underwhelmed. Seems the general advice is 9mm or nothing, especially with blowback. I would DEFINITELY look into something like building on a CMMG Banshee RDB setup, delayed blowback really shines in larger calibers. It can...

Suggestions for a low powered, large objective rifle scope?

This is the kind of stuff we always ask you:D The closest thing I have any knowledge of is Hog scopes, same idea, low light performance is critical, low magnification, large exit pupil. Not sure about any at 1X, but the Steiner GS3 3-15x56 and Trijicon AP 2.5-10x56 seem well regarded around...

      Va knife laws

https://www.akti.org/state-knife-laws/virginia/ appears that folders including autos(thanks kniferights) are fine concealed, fixed blades can be openly carried

      Why Truncated Cone?

They have been around for a long time, they tend to cut cleaner holes in paper, and feed well, pretty much Jacketed SWCs for semi-autos. They can potentially perform better than RN in defensive use, but the difference is minor, they do offer a slightly shorter OAL than RN profiles. It's part...

      Use Pinned Gas Blocks Exclusively?

Nothing wrong with set screw or clamp-on correctly installed in the right application. Proper dimpling is key for set screws, along with torquing and high-temp threadlocker. Easy enough to add a pin if it is a defensive rifle, can cut a flat spot with an end mill if it doesn't already have one...

MSP advisory on high capacity magazines

pin, block, plug. "readily" is a grey area without much guidance by the law, and they admit the ATF doesn't define it either. One of those things that ends up being easy to charge, hard to convict. I know some just drill a hole and insert a roll pin, and the MSgestapo is OK with that, so...

      Fillet Knife and sharpening

This is an older one of mine, stainless damascus over VG10 core. Paterned/etched damascus and hammered finishes are nice being the mild texture breaks suction a little when slicing through food.

Sheetz is being sued for discriminiation

There tends to be more to the story, or at least SOMETHING that might make sense in court filing, but not here, seems it might just be as it appears, Sheetz uses criminal background checks to screen candidates, there is no accusation that this is applied racially or unfairly, just that...
