That’s pretty cool. Have to admit the hunt for accessories like that is addicting. Deep in lockdown my version of the COVID Crazies was to obsessively look for Swiss ordnance accessories.
Model 1950 is a tough pistol to find. I went to the Tulsa show last weekend and only saw one that was in...
Rutlischiessen is one of the historical matches, which are very different from the usual 300m prone shooting that Swiss shooters do. They’re interesting as hell, with more of a festival atmosphere—a lot of food and booze, with maybe only 15-18 shots in the match. Winner typically gets a SIG PE90...
You can just go straight to the source and choose your velocity and lot:

CA CCWs are issued by a CLEO (usually a sheriff, but not always), and are good for the entire state, including extremely anti-gun places like San Francisco County.
The psychological evaluation is a standard CA CCW thing. A few counties that are basically Shall Issue still have them on the...
I was religious about emptying out my hopper, but just to test this I left smokeless powder out in 65 degree/65% humidity for three months…no change in weight. Mind you, this was single base, so a nitroglycerin powder might be more hygroscopic.
OCD still compels me to empty the hopper every time.
Typically a double base vs. single base issue, especially with the older formulations. If fouling is an issue, I’d go with a modern single base powder.
To anyone interested in building a 1911 I’d suggest Oldham and Kuleck’s “The M1911 Complete Assembly Guide, Volume 2”. Ignore the stupid name—it’s actually a modern build guide. Also ignore Volume 1, and I’ll dare to say it……people always suggest the Kuhnhausen books, but both volumes are...
As mentioned above the CZ85B is great for lefthanded shooting, as are the Gen5 Glocks.
The Walther P88 and HK P7 are completely ambi, but are expensive.
Some guns are not made for lefthanded people, but arguably work better for lefties, like the Colt SAA, AK, and Feinwerkbau AW93. I also...
The zip spindle is just the long rod sticking out the top of the die, which is tightened down by a nut. It controls the depth of the decapping pin. You use it to lower the decapping pin. It’s made to slip rather than break.
If the decapping pin is already very low, it could be your spent...
I use AM-8 Boride Engineered stones. They make them down to 120 grit (doesn’t correspond to sand paper grit) and up to 1000 grit, which are good for things like sear surfaces. The only problem is you have to buy them in bulk and they basically last forever.
You actually can use PSA paper or any...
That’s right, and individual shooters on the team are welcome to try their hands at reloading.
Every great competition gunsmith has one bizarre conspiracy theory/pet peeve/quirky voodoo gun belief that is issued to him by God Himself, and I assume “no reloads” is Charlie’s.
People tend to conflate panic pricing with scarcity pricing. I suspect if the current Administration let things be (which they won’t), we would see the panic quickly subside, but not the scarcity. Then 5.56 would “only” be $0.60/rnd, not $1.20/rnd.
Despite widespread scarcity, every panic...
This. It would be a good idea to get rid of the powder since the NOXes it’s forming are toxic as hell. Might want to open it outside as well. The cans would still be salvageable for display.
That’s the problem with nitrate esters. Once the stabilizer (usually something like diphenylamine)...
