Be sure to thoroughly clean all the cosmoline out of the firing pin channel/hole. IIRC, SKSs have a free-floating FP. If it's gunked up with sticky or dried cosmolene you can get a slam fire.

A MD C&R FFL holder would have to go to VA to make the sale and transfer the gun face-to-face. Within MD the transfer would have to go through a MD 01 FFL and then a 7-day wait.

I think the bottom one is a Chilean Model 1895. It's got what appears to be the Chilean crest on the ricasso, and the shape of the handle is consistent.

Some firearms less than 50 years old were declared C&R due to special circumstances, e.g., East German and Soviet...
