OP, remove the slide assembly and look for barrel bump. Kimbers are notorious for that. It will stall the feeding round as you illustrated in the pic. Barrel bump occurs...

The bore will he slightly larger for the 9 as well. .357” groove diameter for the Magnum where a 9 is .355”.
That would limit potential. With good handloading select components, who knows.
