I like using USGI. I like Lancers but if you read their website the 300BO mags are made for subs and they recommend their regular mags for supers. That's just too complicated IMO.

There's no dictated procedure for blocking a magazine that I'm aware of. In Canada where they're limited to 5rd (?) detachable magazines, a rivet is pretty standard.

If my math is right a mid-length gas system should fit fine under a 10" handguard. That said, you should be OK if you go with carbine length on a 14.7", but I like the lightweight profiles better...
