Prepping AR lower for DIY Duracote or Cerakote

I am interested in finishing an unfinished aluminum AR lower and have been doing some research. I understand that the prep work is probably the most important part so I'm thinking about sandblasting...

i haven't added it all up yet but the lower was $40 plus $6 for the dremmel bit. then $460 for the upper and $70 for the LPK.

AR22 build from 80%

Here is a new build from an eplowers 80% pink blemished. I machined out the lower with my cordless dremel. The process was not too painful but i had problems with the trigger/hammer/safety selector....

i got a blem for $35 and don't really see the blemish unless its a tiny mark under the trigger guard. so unless it breaks i'd say its worth it. i'm building a 22 for my wife.
