From a self defense standpoint, you really need a gun. Have you ever tried to get a concealed weapons permit on that alone? You didn't say whether the boat was docked or remained offshore or what...

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you're into knocking over 7/11s I'm sure it will be in safe hands. Gun laws are for keeping guns out of the hands of bad guys. But I would feel better if you had a...

The Mark IV is indeed a gem, but the price would have Bill Ruger twirling in his grave. Ruger always wanted to give consumers good prices. Now the company chases prices just as aggressively as S&W....

I think it floats, and I've yet to see one that sinks. The inside of the device insures that it will float (unless you fill it full of ammo as I've seen many do). The stock floats with the barrel...

And about 85 percent of them that I've seen for sale look like they've been dragged on concrete for a bit. And the nice ones are way overpriced. One thing I don't like about Rugers is their sights....

You got it.

I've never owned a 1911. The closest I came was S&W 645 and 457. The 645 and 4506 were DA versions of the 1911 and were two of the most underrated handguns of the 80s and 90s.

Weird Horror Stories Buying/Selling

Years ago, some guy tried to sell me a 6-inch Security-Six that clearly had some parts interchanged. The cylinder barely fit and the barrel/cylinder gap was so large I could have watched a movie...

These little guns should be legal for concealed carry in Maryland by anyone. No one in his right mind would want to commit suicide with one. And it would be a stupid gun to rob a bank or 7/11 with....

The 1911s of 1953 didn't have the reliability of 1911s today. If you had someone who could go over your 1911 of the day, fine, but I had a friend who waded ashore in the Philippines just a few days...

Wow. I'd want a little longer barrel, but the Manuhrin is tough to beat. Still, I'd have to go with a 6-inch gun, either a Security-Six or that 7-shot S&W 686. Or a 5-shot Manuhrin if they make them....
