Already got a piece of Tyvek as a ground sheet! People have definitely made their own Tyvek tent/tarps and they seem to hold up pretty well; they can be sewn together but taping tends to work fine.

Backpacking tarps are basically tent material, lightweight nylon, but the weight savings over a tent probably isn't significant especially if you add in a hammock...

Get the Franklin. The one I have runs well with both 5.56 and .22 uppers, and it's an absolute blast with .22. Also a decent trigger pull. I have had no issues with it. It does stick out oddly too...
