Sighting in my Rossi 92 454 Casull

I had not got around to seriously trying to sight in this rifle since I bought it. It was shooting quite a bit to the left and was easy to center the hits using the stock buckhorn sights.
The problem has been trying to figure out the elevation using those sights. I think I got it now so it hits 3 inches low at 50 yards. Next I need to try it at 100 yards.

My default recomendations for rifles of that broad catagory is 1.5in high @ 50yds .

I zero my .44 magnum Rossi 92 trapper for 2 inches high at 50 yards with my loads. I only use the open sights for backup, my primary hunting sight is a Bushnell TRS 25 Red Dot. They make several types of scope rail for the 92 in case you didn't know about them.

This is consistent with where I have my Cassull set up. When I run .45LC its about 2" low but that's ok I can always bump it another notch.

My Rossi's had High Front Sight Blades and shot Low as well....Required some File work to raise POI. Go Slow Though!

Not as bad as you might think with such a light rifle. I reload using the minimum load (Hornady manual) with Win 296 and Hornady 240 gr. XTP Mag bullets.

I wouldn't want to try shooting with something like Buffalo Bore loads though. Yikes!

If you have a 454 Casull then you should shoot 454 Casull in it. I also have a 45 LC and that shoots pretty tamely compared to the Casull.
