Well...it is 2020! Skunk removal help needed
1 Attachment(s)
We woke up this morning, Mrs. I comes back from letting the dog out..."smells like a skunk".
Sure enough, Pepe Le Pew has managed to get his head stuck in the lattice around our deck. Head in, body out. Been scratching and clawing for hours. I've called animal control and DNR. Basically no help. I've called a few places, left messages. Looking for any help the forum can provide to get him out. If I can't get him removed, he'll die a slow death...not that I particularly care. If he dies before I can get someone here (it's the weekend, right? :innocent0), any tips for handling it myself? Pic is from my deck, above Pepe Damn this year stinks :lol2: |
I got nothing.
Cover backend with burlap, wet maybe. with snips cut a couple of the lattices around the head Then run like hell. |
When I catch them in my traps a 22lr to the brain will do them in before they can spray. May or may not be possible for your situation.

Be prepared:
Incase you get “skunked” https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcos...k-odor-remover https://www.petco.com/content/petco/..._LINK-_-657755 |
Trapper Trick: Make a slurry/paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide (neutralizes the odor), add a few drops of dish soap (cuts the oils) and rub generously over the contaminated areas/dog. Rinse with fresh water. Repeat as required.

Quick strike with a long handled shovel. From the front!

What kind of lattice?
Wood? Should be an easy fix to know a few slats loose. Plastic/Vinyl? 22LR to the head. Whatever you do. Do not shoot it in the chest. You and the family will be hating life for the next few months. Yes, Months! |

When a skunk is injured it will spray unless you sever the spine.
