Both, I did not vote. Revolvers don't fit my hand right. I am sure I could be trained to grip properly and probably do OK. In fact I would like to own and train with a revolver in the future

The German-made porcelain Glock 7. It doesn’t even show up on airport X-ray machines. The only problem is it costs more than what the Washington D.C. Airport’s chief of security makes in a month.

    Incomplete poll.

You could argue a DA hammer fired steel or alloy frame semi auto is more similar to a revolver than it is to a striker fired polymer frame semi auto.

If you really want to explore the differences and get useful feedback you need more categories.

Which ever kind you happen to have in your hand, and know how to use, when someone is trying to kill you. And then… it’s worth your life savings.

There's not a ton that a revolver can do that a semiauto of some flavor can't. This is especially true when tossing .460 Rowland conversions and absurd things like desert eagle's into the mix. It's even more true if you count AR pattern pistols as semiautomatic handguns.

Semiautos do have advantages in capacity, reload time, and not worrying about cylinder gap jets. Double action revolvers have the advantage that if there's an ammo-related malfunction, a press of the trigger rotates to a new chamber with no tap/rack needed as a remedy. There's also not many semiautos that can compare to a good single-action revolver trigger.

The clear answer is to just go with a magazine fed revolver like the dardick or a semiautomatic revolver like the mateba.

And all are useless… in the hands of one without the will to use it and the wisdom to know when.

    Wheel gun or mag fed…
Choose what you are best with, and train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train… and PRAY that you’ll never need it.

Silly question, but I guess there’s nothing wrong with having some fun with it. Several responses come to mind.

    1.) The one you have.
2.) The one you’ve trained with the most, have the most faith in, and can use the best.
3.) The one that’s best suited to your purposes.

Upon reading the question I defaulted to P10C (substitute g19 or g19x/g45 on a different day), but then thought maybe Sig P365 might be a better choice. Either way, going to be a bad day for me if the unwritten part of the “what handgun is best” question was “for elephant defense.”

Not sure. Is it real or is it Memorex? ;)

With the rising cost of ammo, I like semi auto pistols that have .22 conversion kits. People say training is key, which is true, but cheaper training allows you to gain the muscle memory and familiarity with your gun cheaper, practice reloads, and then swap back over to 9mm for a few training rounds then self defense rounds. Very few revolvers I have seen have .22 conversion kits. I prefer a semi auto for myself, because it is faster to reload if necessary. Now I am no John Wick, but I have seen videos where people always required the maximum amount of ammo stored to end a confrontation. My semi auto 9mm could shoot almost 3x as long before reloading as my six shooter. Revolvers are cool no doubt, and I'd probably take one in a holster if I were going to a cookout amongst friends, but for serious personal defense, I'd rely on my semi. I've never had a malfunction with it yet.
