      Missing Brass in Man Cave

I would be real worried if you are also missing matching primers, powder, and bullets. That would be concerning indications of the mice planning a revolution, and stocking heavy firepower

      Marlin 1894 Classic .357 Magnum 18" 9rd Rifle, Walnut - $999.99

I am quite tempted, but still want to hold out for a threaded 357. Still, an encouraging sign that ruger has the production lines now turning out 357 lever guns.

      Garden Thread 2024

So, where do you all recommend buying seeds? In years past I bought seedlings from the local farmers market, but this last year the price of seedlings was up to ~$4-5 per plant. Given how many randomly distributed seedlings show up later (~may) from prior year fallen tomatoes, I decided to go...

Need advice on a bug out bag

With backpacking trips, the general rule is to keep weight no more than 1/4 or 1/3 of body weight, adjusting for fitness level. For the described purpose, aiming more at 1/4 body weight as an initial guideline sound appropriate. After you have an initial bag prepared, time for a day hike for...

What is your favorite unique caliber that is difficult to find?

7.63x25 mauser for me. The broomhandle mauser is my favorite old gun to bring to the range to show off, from its wildly optimistic sights ranging out to 1000m, to the internal box magazine. I find a couple boxes of PPU or fiocchi every so often at gun shows, thus dissuading me from jumping...

PSA now has the Marlin 1894 in .357.

Alas, I am holding out for the model 1894 CST, since I want the stainless steel for rust resistance and the threaded barrel for adding a suppressor.

Moonlighter, still looking. Whereabouts are you located?

How good is your accuracy with that? Right now if I am trying to knock off a rabbit at 8 paces, I will only get 1 rabbit in 30.

      Used Golf Balls, box...

What is a reasonable distance from Glen Burnie? I am a bit further south at Abingdon. I have been practicing with a shepards sling starting this year, though not to great results yet. I have been using golf balls for ammo since they are easier to find, so extra practice ammo would be welcome...

      I need a flashlight

My current EDC is a streamlight 1L-1aa. It is small enough to carry comfortably in a front pocket, I can use CR123's for better performance, or fall back to AA's if that is what is available. The tailcap switch is easy for my thumb to find, and requires a deeper click to turn on, reducing the...

      357 Magnum versus 38 Special

Should use the old musket approach - if you only have 1 shot before contact, make sure you mount a bayonet :)

      357 Magnum versus 38 Special

      - On the subject of loading, semiautos are much easier and faster than revolvers. +1 to semiautos - Semiautos near universally have higher round capacity. Observation of a shooting event like steel challenge, even as the shooter already mentally prepared themselves and clearly sees the targets...

Eating 25 Year Shelf-Life Survival Food For Fun

Certainly drain off the water. I cannot remember if I tried additional drying with hand towels or paper towels or not. I also get that frozen vegetable mix from the grocery store (carrots, green beans, corn, etc.) and run that in the dehydrator as well.
