      Trail cameras 1st time shopping

I use Amazon no-names behind my house with decent results, although I had to send one model back twice…moved on to another no-name. Just put a Stealthcam Fusion X cellular and a battery pack with a solar panel on a property in Garrett Co. so far working well. We’ll see how it holds up. Paid a...

School me on towing sway bars for a truck/camper please

I have a 2k lb rPod and I tow with a V8 4Runner with 7k lb. towing capacity. I am looking at upgrading and what you are looking at is at the maximum I am considering, and really don't want to go that high. Otherwise I'll get a tow vehicle with a higher capacity. I think I can get what I'd...

      Trout Neophyte

Too bad Coronavirus has things shut down right now, but when things open up its probably worth your time to take a trip down to Tochtermans on Eastern Ave. in the city. Any of the people are very helpful, but Tony (owner) and Rich Dennison are the two I know the best. St. Croix has a couple...

      Visited Green Ridge Yesterday

Grew up (or as my wife says, didn't grow up, just got older) in Allegany County. No family left there now, miss getting back up there as much as I used to. Shoulder issues/surgery stopped my Garrett County fly fishing trips for the past couple years. Ready to head back up this fall now...just...

      Squirrel hunting 2019-2020

Not seeing as many this year as I haven't been putting corn down for the deer in my backyard. Got tired of a million ticks. But still need to keep the tree rats off my "squirrel proof" bird feeders. I have a great time with my .22 Benjamin Break Barrel pellet gun. Came with a crappy 4X scope...

The "Sun is Setting Between the Trees" Again!

I had two red oaks that had one branch of leaves turn, and then two weeks later all the leaves were brown and the trees were dead! My tree guy said there's a fungus hitting a lot of red oaks in the area. Couldn't believe how quickly they went from looking fine to stone dead. I'm sure the disease...

      Chronic Wasting Disease Breakthrough?

That was my thought too...announcing that a "cure" (vaccine) for animals would only be a year or so to develop and I believe he said that treatment for humans with CJ could be something like 5-7 years is just way too fast. Especially, as you point out that the transmission model has basically...

      Chronic Wasting Disease Breakthrough?

Interesting press conference involving the Unified Sportsmen of PA and elected officials a couple of days ago announcing that Dr. Frank Bastian of LSU has properly identified the true causative agent of CWD and has also found a "cure" for CWD. The portion of the video that is shown on this...

      Gloves

I have a hard enough time handling my .177 and .22 pellets without gloves. Have you tried a pellet pen? Works well with a break barrel, not sure how good with a PCP magazine...

      Camground $$ ?

Not sure where you're trying to get close to, but places like Savage River State Forest and Green Ridge State Forest have primitive campgrounds available for $10/night. Check out their information at the MD DNR Page for State Forests: https://dnr.maryland.gov/forests/Pages/mdforests.aspx There...

Bwahahahaha - I see what you did there... 'Course it's probably is more of an age indicator.

      Suburban squirrel “hunting”

I do make a pot of Burgoo occasionally, but my wife hasn't acquired a taste for tree rats. I can only freeze so much.

      Suburban squirrel “hunting”

Exactly what I do...put a cinder block right in front of a big oak and put a little deer corn on it. Plus, I'm shooting from my deck, so I'm shooting down into the ground if they are right in front of the block. When I get them, just take them further in the back where the fox appreciate them...
