Incredible List of Additions to the Maryland Register

You know you’re getting older when you don’t even recognize about half the manufacturer names on that list. I used to read all of the gun rags and then it was online researching. Guess I know what I like and haven’t really kept up with things.

Selling a Rifle for a Friend in MD?

Is there a reason she doesn’t want to be present for the transfer? She doesn’t want to go to an icky gun shop, deal with the whole process, has health issues that make it difficult? The easiest thing if any of the above is true would be for you to scope out an FFL that is willing to take the...

SELF DEFENSE AMMO - GUN SPECIFIC

Shopping for defensive ammo is usually a good reason to hit up a gun show for 50 round boxes of say Gold Dots. I think HSTs might all come in 50 round boxes but not sure. Point being if there is an option, the 50 round boxes will be a better deal. For practice, I try to stick to 124 grain but...

What Happens When You Try to Buy a Handgun Not on the Roster?

IME, this is the answer. Ruger’s have been the worst when trying to find the right entry. Especially their single actions and Mk series. The’ve made a million variations over the years. The MSP move to n/a on SKUs has helped.

      New to gun ownership

Welcome. For an FFL, checkout Tyler’s in Halethorpe if you haven’t already. They’ve always treated me right. Another vote for joining MSI. Their website has a ton of guides and info as well. For training, Gun Commander is great.

      10/22 Trigger options

I think it depends on the goal. I put tech sights and a BX trigger on a plain jane 10/22 and that's all I wanted. Now if I was going to trick one out and swap a bunch of parts like the barrel and stock, I would be more inclined to spend more on a trigger just to try it out.

Best places to look at/buy 1911 in Maryland

For 1911s usually on hand: Another vote for Maryland Elite. They have brands with a price tag range from mild to wild. Atlantic in Rockville. They usually have several manufacturers including Les Baer 2A Sales seems to move inventory but I’ve handled a couple Colts there. Kimber also I...

1911 cleaning and lube tips ?

Lately, the past year or so, I’ve been using Lucas extreme gun oil and grease, cleaning (wiping off carbon) with odorless mineral spirits on patches. Every now and then I hit the bore with Wipe-Out. I like that Lucas oil stays wet/visible for a long time for guns that like to be run wet or I...

      Holster question(s)

This is not helpful whatsoever but I love my Tenicor Certum 3 so much that if they don’t make one for a certain gun, I would switch guns… 3:00-3:30 carry for what it’s worth.

      Looking for 5.56 Stripper Clips

I bet SCSG could hook you up. At least I know Brian has a whole slew of various stripper clips on his table at the HoCo shows. I bought a few for an Enfield and a Yugo Mauser I think from him.

      DC handgun magazine capacity

Beretta 92FS 10 round SKU: JS92F300 Took 5 seconds to search in your favorite browser. No difference in the actual pistol regarding accepting 10 vs 15 vs 18 round magazines available for the 92FS.

Legal Transfer of Shotgun to my Wife?

This. I bought a long gun from Bass Pro a few years ago. Was doing paperwork next to a guy and there was some conversation about his wife and they stopped the sale right then and there. No more discussion. I didn’t catch the whole story but the guy seemed like he was trying to do the ‘right...

      Colonial 58 Flintlock

Very cool! Mine is still in the crate. I just haven’t felt up to even getting my work area setup. I think I have all the tools and supplies that I need.

Safe places to live in Laurel/Fulton/Columbia area?

I lived in Columbia for a number of years and you couldn’t pay me to live there. Well, everyone has a price…. No offense to anyone that lives there and likes it but I called the cops more times living in Columbia than other parts of Maryland for various issues, even MoCo. I mean it isn’t the...

Clay Shooters are an "Interesting" Bunch

Hopefully I don't fall into the group that is demanding that you spend more than necessary. But once your wife finds 'her gun' and if she decides she likes shooting clays, as stated just above, adding a pad adjuster might be worth it especially for the female anatomy. You can raise and lower the...
