I have both.
I would not say I prefer one over the other but there are a few reasons I like the mini enough to have one:
- it’s not a scary looking “black gun” yet has the same firepower. It may even be a workaround where ARs are banned.
- the mini has a slight edge in reliability. Not as...
I would spend up to a grand maybe. But it would have to be real carry, not like current law where you're only allowed to carry when you are in the act of depositing cash or something.
It would be outrageous to charge people for the ability to defend themselves.
To the right
I mount it in clamp, stand behind it and align the front and rear sights for a sight picture on a target 25 feet away, the bore sight dot is 6-8 inches to the right. That seems to rule out the human element.
I'm thinking I have to call Ruger on this one.
I have a new SR9C that I've been to the range with a couple times that consistently shot far to the right, even at short distances like 7-10 yards. I'm shooting nothing exotic, just American Eagle FMJ.
I have a bore sight tool (Site Lite SL 100) I stuck in there and low and behold at 25 feet...
Yes! Thank you for that eloquence, that is what this thread is about. It's not a revolver vs. semi, it's questioning why we have revolver models to cover many uses but none specialized for HD and for the group of people that your wife may fall into ie. "nor does she have the desire it takes to...
Revolvers are definitely more reliable. Semi's have closed the gap but they can never completely get there because there are just more things that can go wrong and if you are going to own and use a semi, you have to be prepared to deal with the failure modes.
I'm sure some have shot 30k...
I say polymer or alloy for a number of reasons:
1. Offset the weight of an extra large cylinder (to fit more than 8 rounds)
2. Offset the weight of rail accessories like a light and laser
3. Offset the weight of it being big enough to have rails
4. Offset the weight of extra rounds
I think there are enough evidenced by the large number of CCW conceal carry revolvers out there. The LCR's have been wildly popular. It's not the same market but there is a lot of overlap. I disagree with other posters that revolvers are just for 80+ years olds with arthritis. There are...
It is a great gun and I mentioned in the first post but it would not satisfy the market I'm talking about that does not ever want to shoot 357 magnum on their house nor even at the range.
The TRR8 is the right format but has the following negatives for target market:
1. It is expensive...
So this is the refined spec after getting all the great feedback here:
Target market: people who want a home defense "nightstand" gun, that will have minimal training, need ultimate in simplicity, will never consider a gun with a slide or magazines. They are recoil averse and want small...
Yes! I was thinking about the 327 round, only problem is it is not that popular and available. Very interested in trying it on the LCR. I'm also assuming that even though 38 is same size as 357, due to lower pressures, less steel is needed between rounds in a cylinder and thus it may be...
Yes, fully aware they are the same size since I reload. I assume that due to higher pressures with a 357 more steel is needed and more space between rounds in the cylinder. I could be wrong.
