I repeat... Keep it simple. Attached is my .308’s grouping at 1000yds. Neck tension... not wasting my time. This rifle is for shooting deer. Thats why I always tell people to decide why you want to hand load. Define accurate. Do you want to compete, or do you want to shoot tighter groups than...
Big country hit the nail on the head. Try your best to not ‘analysis paralysis’ this rabbit hole you are getting ready to venture down. Atleast at first.
My thoughts.... Make your mind up as to what direction you want to take this, a) shooting paper, or b) shooting animals. Doing some very...
Hand Loads.....
Hey guys... Since I have started this build Ive been monitoring sites on internet for information on hand loads for this caliber. Just being curious how people are making out and such. Lot of stuff floating around thats a year old... not too much current information. I thought...
Well i guess you would have determined that when you were developing your loads. Its usually the first place I start. Uncharged brass with bullet seated way out... put in action... close action bullet getting pushed deeper into brass, and likely into the lands. On my 22-250 I i pushed the bullet...
Food for thought... against every grain in my body, I full length bedded by new 6.5prc 27” barrel blank attached to an antique rem 721 action. I was pleasantly surprised by consistency and tightness of factory round groups. I realize this may not work for you, i think you said you switch between...
I just meant is the bullet jumping to the lands, off the lands or in the lands was all. Was gng down the road of thinking somehow, someway, the bullet is getting disturbed. Im stumped though... personally ive never had decent grouping at 100 that opened way up at 200.
Hi there. Dont get caught up in over thinking this. Its dangerous to your health, lol. My opinion, this round when dialed in should be bullet hole inside of bullet hole at 100 yds. I agree with earlier post about your reported load being Light charge for that weight bullet. Im never a fan of...
Test Day
For anyone that is interested in results, I will be testing this new build at my range today. We’ll see how the full length bed job performs. Honestly, i am extremely suspect. I also bedded the scope base. Additionally, I am shooting factory 143eldx so that i can get some brass for...
My 22-250 is a 1:14 twist. It shoots anything from 63gn on down to lighter. The best weight is 55gn, and I use the vmax bullets. I commented on your other thread, all and any .22 calibers should and will shoot extremely tight groups. I wouldnt stop developing your load until you reach a clover...
You need to re work your loads. For any .22 rifle these groups are pretty bad. Below is a recent 5 shot group from my 22-250 hand loads. This is not bad ass.... just acceptable. Am I missing something here? Did you get these spreads tighter?
...100yds
I decided with full length bed because the barrel was so heavy. Have never used a barrel this heavy. Ive always free floated barrels, but i figured I could see how this would go. Can always dremel it out i guess. I use a guy named Mike in DE.
Good morning Maryland!!! Its a beautiful day and its great to be alive.
I have been bitten by the 6.5 bug... more particularly the PRC. For the tenth year in a row I have been focusing on my .308 and now im ready for new challenge.
Since this is a relatively new caliber, I figured id...
Park Ranger.... also, I’m sitting here drinking a glass of rum and looking over that picture I posted. I never paid close attention, but if I zoom in it looks like the impacts are not uniform. Almost like the bullet hit a different way all three times. No?
