      Shotshell Bushing Quandary

A little throw back to the old days. You can polish out a bushing to enlarge it a hair to get an in-between size. Some guys used to use nail polish to reduce a bushing a bit. That's all trial and error, but it worked when someone wanted to fine tune the throw. Life doesn't have to be that...

      Handloading WW2 or post-war cartridges

I'm just using a Lee 8x56R die set. Initial sizing of the 7.62 is in the 8x56R full length die. Anneal first or you may split some necks. Lube inside the necks real well or you may get a stuck case! Experience speaks. The bullet I use for fireforming is the PRVI 205g, .330" spitzer. Least...

      Pulled 100 bullets

Take away from doing the very same thing years ago; try chambering the resized cases before loading a bunch of rounds. Correct it before having a bunch of useless rounds and lost labor. BTDT, we all have something we botched.

Have you patterned the two loads? If one is better, use it. If they pattern pretty much the same/good, flip a coin and stick with that load. You'll learn the lead for that load which is why the need to pick a good patterning load and stick with it. You'll eventually learn the rise on going...

      Handloading WW2 or post-war cartridges

I've made 8x56R from 7.62x54R commercial boxer primed brass. The neck is way short, but usable. Anneal the case shoulder/neck before full length sizing. Then fireform. The neck will fill out to 8x56R dimensions with a healthy load. Fireforming may be spotty if using lower power loads like...

      8x57 Garand Conversion

I sold my M1/M14 Wrench and Barrel Vise to another member here from Anne Arundel back in 2018 as I wasn't doing it anymore. Yeah, I get wound up over it because I was Marine Corps trained Armorer back in the 1970;s and actually trained to do the rebarrels correctly. I apologize if I riled anyone...

      8x57 Garand Conversion

WOW! So much misunderstanding here. What some oaf does in Pakistan is not a safe model of doable in the US. A 30-06 chamber is flat out too long for 8x57. Just look at the dimensions folks. To "rebore and rechamber" from 30-06 to 8x57 will require setting the barrel back and rethreading it...

      8x57 Garand Conversion

It's all about the port pressure. I have 30-06 and 308 Garands and reload as appropriate. Plenty of valid data from powder and bullet manufacturers for those two. The OP might want to search or inquire about 8x57 load data for Garand on the CMP forums. There was a guy there with one (wear a...

      8x57 Garand Conversion

You can't "rechamber" a 30-06 barrel to 8x57. The chamber dimensions of the 30-06 case are too long and the bore is too small. You would require a rebarrel of a Garand to 8x57.

      One man protest in Waldorf

Nice try Doc. However, the courts didn't rule on any hypothetical regulation or law in the books of Charles Co. Md. and that statement wasn't a ruling nullifying obscenity laws in every jurisdiction in the US of A. Opinion of how it should be doesn't negate how it is.

      Shooting Range

SCSC is done. The majority on the Board let a non professional attempt to rewrite the lease offered to relocate the outdoor range against the advice of legal council. And failed. The majority of the Board refused to believe SCSC would be held accountable for lead cleanup on the old outdoor...

      One man protest in Waldorf

Depends on what the courts have ruled or will rule in jurisdictions that have laws restricting such things. This is a country of laws with processes to contest said laws if one believes they do violate individual rights. Everyone thinks their opinion is correct whereas law and legal processes...
