I don't think this is necessarily true. It MIGHT only take one shot. There might be a domino effect; such was more or less the case with the Austrian arch duke in WW1. But the Turks shot down a Russian jet in 2015 , and yet no war happened. There were plenty of shots in the Waco massacre in '93...
sad, but true. the fact that a Republican was elected governor shouldn't have been reason enough to abandon a conservative strategy, radical as it might be. I'd love for the movement to pick up some steam again.
MoCo and PG County have so little in common with the Western counties, it's crazy...
yeah but the NG would have to follow the order. Many of those guys are gun owners themselves, and would be opposed to instituting martial law in their own communities. It wouldn't surprise me if they straight up refused.
This whole discussion highlights several interesting points:

i'm not as familiar with this system as the other posters, so after reading your original post i figured you'd be a shoe-in. After reading the replies, it sounds like you probably won't get it. You are the prime example for why this permitting system is broken.
yeah, that's my guess too, which is a shame considering that it's not like the Maryland General Assembly all of the sudden became more in-line with the political leanings of Western Maryland. It's still a worthy cause, though I can't see it every happening, even if the momentum continued.

thanks for bringing this poll to our attention. I felt that it was my duty as a Catholic to respond!
I wish that it told us the results though. They'll probably scrap the thing when they don't get the answers they want, and pretend that people like us don't exist.
Yeah, the application website reads "Handgun Wear and Carry Permit". You'd think there would be some consistency in the title of the application and the title of the card. Apparently that's too much to ask.
I was reading too fast. My mistake. I agree with you here.
I even agree with you here. Criminals can still get guns through the black market, though. So I'm not sure how effective the law will be at preventing violent criminals from obtaining guns. Are you aware of cases in which an ex-con...
It's unclear to me what you mean by repeat offenders. To the extent that they aren't getting charged with owning or carrying a firearm, which shouldn't be a crime, that's a good thing.
That being said, I'd be fine with laws that would punish firearms owners that have recently (past 7 years...
