The rifle was purchased after 2013, so bringing in as is is a no go. The barrel actually looks like a heavy barrel but has no HBAR markings and is not advertised as so, so not going to take my chances.
The law makes no sense to me either, the rifle isn't on the ban list, it passes the copy...
Unfortunately, I am moving to Maryland from Virginia in the coming months and need to switch my Armalite M-15 / MOD SPR 1 to HBAR to be compliant. I was originally just going to upgrade the barrel to an HBAR one but this seems like it might get basically as expensive as just buying a cheap upper...
I am confused now, so even though my Armalite SPR MOD 1 is not listed on the ban list and passes the copycat test, none of that matters if you don't have a heavy barrel?
If so, could I just dismantle the upper from the lower and legally have it in Maryland? as long as I don't fully assemble the...
Thanks for the reply. I was told by a MD gun shop that my rifle needed to have a heavy barrel to be compliant, is this true? I am not positive on the type of barrel, its about .75in diameter but no HBAR markings that I can see.
First time poster, possibly moving to Maryland from Virginia, sorry to beat a dead horse. So according to the post quoted, If I have a centerfire rifle that is 34in long (39in with stock extended), has a flash suppressor (only one evil feature) and has a detachable magazine, am I good to go...
