I think they might be going for 80% frame plus parts kit is more than 80%. I bet they say something stupid like, the 80% frame and LPK, slide, etc. need to be sold in separate boxes to be legal. Or the frame will have to be less than 80% complete. [emoji849]
As a personal or corporate policy, this makes complete sense, and doesn't bother me in the slightest. However, ATF says that it is not a *legal* requirement.

It depends on the specific digital mode. On VHF, there are some folks doing NBEMS over FM. And packet (like APRS and other AX.25 applications, like the old-school BBSes and current Winlink) is typically done on FM. The long-range VHF stuff, like satellites and moonbounce and even VHF DXing with...
AM and SSB are related, but not identical. AM has both side-bands (the portion that carries sound) and a center carrier. SSB takes that AM signal and drops one of the side-bands and the carrier. The net result is that you can listen to AM with an SSB receiver, but you typically won't have good...
There's very little digital going on above 6m these days, but there is some. Some ARES groups use NBEMS to do message traffic on VHF, but that's not (as far as I know) on any standardized frequencies, just up to local preference. I think there's some moonbounce that uses digital modes like JT65...
I don't know about these particular radios or their suitability for conversion to amateur radio use. In general, there are many hams who buy commercial radios and reprogram them for use in the ham bands, and it's completely legal for a licensed amateur to modify his own equipment for use in the...
Applying the above to the OP, if you are taking your firearms to the gun shop to exhibit them, rock on (although also allowed under 4-203 anyway). If you are taking a gun to the shop for defensive purposes, you are not acting in good faith as a collector, so that particular exemption would not...
DC status is nothing to do with 4-203. It is for Public Safety Article 5-129. From the MDSP FAQ:
For additional info about DC status, see COMAR 29.03.01.25. DC only pertains to purchasing, not 4-203.
For the definition of "bona fide", which is not defined in the law (like so many other terms...
No, "bona fide collectors" can transport to public or private exhibitions. As has been covered ad nauseum elsewhere, the Designated Collector status only affects your ability to buy more than one regulated firearm per month. Anyone can act in good faith (bona fide) as a collector and benefit...
Interesting. It makes me wonder what would have happened if you had been carrying. Since it's completely legal, as far as I can tell, even if it were posted, I would think the worst they could do is make you go stow it in your car and come back. Or is there something I'm missing?
It's been a while since I've been down there. All I remember is that the parking lot seemed dark and had a weird layout that provided lots of hiding places. I don't think it's in a bad part of town (not really knowing the area), but I recall the parking lot seeming to have lots of opportunities...
My wife and I are going to see Jonathan Coulton on Saturday night. Not exactly an international superstar, but we like his music. His politics, eh, not so much.
I'm not especially worried about inside the venue, but that parking lot is worrisome, particularly in the dark after the show ends.
