Normal factory loads, loaded to trapdoor-level pressures — 405 gr at ~1250 FPS — are really pleasant to shoot in my Marlin 1895. Reloads at 1000 fps feel like a 22 rimfire.

Cheaper Than Dirt sucks. They’ve been the most blatant price gougers for at least the last eight years, sticking it to gun owners at every opportunity. I will never buy from them.
Why not use Engage or Atlantic Guns for the transfer?
Reloading is the ticket. My elk load is mid-level, a 405gr JSP over enough RE-7 to reach about 1750fps, in the neighborhood of 2800 fp energy. I’ve gone hotter by 100fps but didn’t see the point of beating up the gun or my shoulder.
But there are some lever gun loads available commercially...
