Just out of curiosity, what are you trying to optimize for? Air works, but are usually noisier than subsonic, quiet, or 22 short un-suppressed rifles in most cases.
The Victorinox (formerly Forschner*) 6 inch Semi-Stiff, boning knife is also a pretty good boning knife that the Bearded Butchers use. They don't state what SS is used on the blade but it does the job.
Unless you are stone impaired like I am. :-) I have tried, stones, Lansky, and similar rod systems, Edge pro, Work Sharp, Magic Chefs, Hone, and 2" vertical knife belt sanders. Diamond, steel and ceramic "steels" between sharpenings.

I was always planning on declaring the FA w/ TSA, insuring same etc., just wanted to put them in my duffel and keep everything together to prevent loss/sticky fingers. Is this OK or must the case be a separately checked ?
First time flying w/ a side by side to MT. You mention inner luggage which is what I want to do in order to hide the hard locked g-case from inquisitive baggage handlers in large soft duffel w/ my other stuff. Is it better to do this or check the gun case separately from the duffel bag...

SC has e-forms and will ship the can to your home no local FFL required which is very convenient. Once you do the finger printing etc the first go around, this is no longer required since they already have your info on file making subsequent purchases very easy with most pre filled out forms...
