      Any photos?

The strange Type 84 SKS that lives in the back of the safe.

The serial range may put it into the 50 year range but the modifcation was done in the late 1980's or early 1990's. Since you can't prove the date it was modified, January 1st, 2044 is the earliest possible date for 50 year C&R eligibility- as 1993 is is when the Chinese imports ended.

Inappropriate exchange with gun store owner while concealed carrying at his store?

Telling people that you're carrying concealed defeats the whole purpose and meaning of carrying concealed. Just a thought

Need Recommendations for My Daughter’s 1st Handgun.

686 is a great first gun for her. I got my wife the 4" 686+ for christmas several years ago. She started out loading it with .38spl like you said. She actually prefers it to a standard .38 revolver, because the mass of the 686 handles the recoil better in her hands. Since then, she has set...

      Is a 22LR or 25ACP Better for SELF-DEFENCE?

Out of a pocket pistol or a mouse gun, I'll take the .25acp every time.

Should I buy a Norinco SKS

The ammo supply will be ok. There are at least two more years of Russian ammo imports coming. And other manufacturers will fill the supply line as the Russian import contracts expire-- because Capitalism. If anything, now might be a really good time to by an sks or a7.62 AK as the ban panic...

      SKS

From the photo, it's a 21st year carbine (1976) and the stamp looks like arsenal 0223: /0223\ see here: https://sks-files.com/index.php?topic=43.0

      SKS

There are over a hundred known tyoe56 factory stamps. So Arsenal stamps aren't very significant to pricing the Chinese sks-- unless you have an early 'M21' VN bringback. Though i do not recall seeing a /22\ stamped carbine-- though ive seen it recorded as a known arsenal stamp. Depending on...

Biden does it again! State Dept. Bans Russian Guns and Ammo

Seriously? Did you somehow forget about the last three decades? Because Russia picked up the slack when the Chinese ammo stopped. It's called capitalism. When there's a huge profit to be made, someone (or mulitple someones) ALWAYS picks up the slack. Besides, I'd rather spend a few cents...

Biden does it again! State Dept. Bans Russian Guns and Ammo

Russian ammo will still be imported as usual for at least another two years-- possibly in larger quantities-- and possibly for longer if Russia complies with sanction terms( not likely) The September date is for the application of new import contacts. Contracts are 2years in duration. And the...

      45 Camping handgun

If you come face to face with an angry bear and all you have is a .45 acp-- your best option is to have your will drawn up before you depart.

Chinese type 56 SKS' for sale at Palmetto

BATF doesn't require official dating from the country of manufacture. All that they required in 2011 was an adequate explanation of a dating method for the Chinese guns from the importers. The method they went with was the one provided by Steve Kehaya. At the time that dating method was...

      CZ50 - First C&R Acquisition

Nice catch. And it matches your socks, too. Even better!

      Makarov

They're made by Baikal. Technically they are model designated IJ-70-- but I think they are Makarov copies except for the addition of an adjustable rear sight. I don't know if parts are interchangeable

      Info on this SKS?

If the bayonet lug is still intact (hard to tell from the photo), bayonets are fairly easy to acquire under $50. With the bayonet, $700 is at the high end of the current covid/politics- influenced market. It appears to be in excellent condition. Late production-- post 1966 Some haggling...
