      Home Shooting Range

In Montgomery, you can shoot up to .25 caliber (no FMJ) outdoors if you are outside the "urban area". They recognize this as north of Brink Road (Laytonsville area) and west of 118 (Seneca/Poolsville area"). You must be 50 yards from a public road and 150 yards from any building designed for...

      Revolver porn thread.

Put a set of S&W Black/Silver wood grips on the 686. I like the feel better than the rubber grip. Quicker to adjust my grip from the draw.

      1911 Gun Porn

Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and took a photo of my Colt barrel compared to my G20. There is a bit more brass exposed for sure, but not as much as another example I found on the web. It looks like they may have at least slightly modified the chamber. I do have several boxes of Buffalo...

      Question for Montgomery Co kayakers

Great Falls is heavy rapids, and continues up the river to the Violet's Lock dam. You want to put in above Violet's Lock. Best place to put in is Seneca Creek, at Riley's Lock. Go out River Road (190) until it dead ends at Seneca Rd. (112). Take a left to stay on River Rd. and take a left on...

      Stupid AR scope question

You want to line the end of the bell of the scope to the back end of the rail. You might need a cantilever mount to do so. I use the LaRue SPR 1.5, but there are cheaper options, such as the above mentioned PEPR. I also put the medium BCM charging handle on it, but if the scope is mounted in...

      223 & Speed of Sound

I wouldn't bother going through the hassle of getting a suppressor in a plinking caliber. I'd either go .300 or .45. At least a 200gr+ subsonic bullet can be put to use on something besides paper.

      Handgun Cleaning

I don't clean my guns after every trip to the range, but I keep a range towel in a plastic bag with some Ballistol on it and wipe them off right after I use them, and I'll at least stick a mop or snake down the barrel with some Ballistol when I get home.

      Pistol...300 AAC vs. 10mm

I know these are very different rounds/firearms, but I am having a hard time deciding what to buy. I keep having an urge to buy a DD4 .300 pistol. I don't have a pistol in rifle caliber. I have a couple pre-ban AR-15 rifles, and a 5.56 pistol doesn't appeal to me, but the 300 actually seems...

      Online purchase

This....the fact that FFLs are willing to stay in MD and offer the best they can under MD law is worth paying a little extra.

      OK ? To replace 6" pistol barrel With 9" or 12" ?

On a side note, when I applied for my HQL, in order to be exempt from the training portion, I had to submit the brand, make, barrel length and serial number of one of my handguns....so is MD keeping track of barrel length in their hand gun registry?

      Rimfire scope thoughts

I've been using the Weaver Rimfire 4x28 for years. I recently switched it from my .22 to my Ruger 77/357 and it's held up to over 500 magnum rounds so far. It's a bit more expensive, but is well built and only weighs 8.5 oz.
