Technically, an AR10 clone is a simple as an A15. But due to the economy of scale lacking for AR10 parts, building an AR10 clone is generally NOT cheaper than buying a complete one.
Thanks Pinecone.
The madness is beginning to make sense ;-)
The only POST 10/2013 AR15 I am trying to keep legal in MD is my 3Gun rifle. Otherwise, it would be easier to get a SCAR or HBAR while this is still OK in MD.
My 3Gun upper is very similar to the one shown here except that my barrel...
There are numerous photos on Gunjoker of lowers stamped with "Colt Sporter HBAR"
I am currently a New Hampshire resident with a vacation home in MD. Just in case I ever move back to MD I had planned to build anything post 10/2013 on "Colt Sporter HBAR" lowers to avoid any unpleasant discussions...
My FFL in New Hampshire asks for $50 to be spent on any merchandise for each transfer. He gets his sales and I get the stuff (ammo, Tannerite, etc.) I need anyway. I would call that a win-win.
I use a 18" barrel with brake, rifle length gas tube, and carbine stock/buffer in my 3Gun rifle. This is the fastest shooting (stays dead on target for multiple shots) and most precise (late and very mild disturbance from moving BCG) combination of standard components that is equally reliable...
It would be nice if the experts here could enlighten me why a firearm labeled "Tactical Carbine" would qualify as something the law explicitly specifies as "Sporter HBAR"
I do not care what the IPs currently get away with selling or the MSP currently condones. I only care about what would hold...
Steve,
Thanks for organizing this.
While I like the secret COF policy, I think it would be helpful to publish the bounds in which these events take place. Along the lines of: "Targets no smaller than X MOA have to be engaged at distances ranging from Y to Z yards."
I got a .357 SIG barrel from Lonewolf for my G23.
One of the reloading manuals (forgot which one) describes the .357 SIG as the most accurate pistol round they ever tested and my own humble experiments concur with this.
Based on the positive experiences with the .357 SIG in the Glock, I built...
I can make my guns (pistol length gas system) cycle reliably with 17ish grains of LilGun.
Best load in my guns (YMMV) is 19.5 gr of LilGun with a cartridge length of 2.220 and CCI 400 primers. That yields single digit standard deviation and sub MOA groups in both 9" and 16" barrels.
Work...
I think MOM & Co. would be proud if they could see how much MD has already turned into a Stasi state where everybody worries about their neighbor.
@blacktalon: Where are you planning to obtain the great wisdom that will eventually entitle you to "qualify" others like the MSP? From the public...
The 300 Blackout is an excellent caliber that only requires a barrel change in an AR15.
You can use "real" hunting bullets and have the confidence of shooting a heavier bullet (typically twice as heavy as a 5.56x45) on game.
The cartridge also excells in short barrels. 8-9" barrels are...
