This is a big one for my Wife and me,, we like to hike and remote fish,, but at our age not comfortable without "carrying",, one of the reasons we wanted to get the W&C permit,, but it would be useless with the ban.

If they ask for proof it's unlikely you'd need to produce more than an affidavit signed under oath
I havent' been in a while, but I live right next to cove point state park, with the weather getting better I can make it an effort to go at least bi-weekly into the woods... Just wondering what would need to be available to help prove the case. Of course I do not intend to continue to walk there when I can't protect myself anymore.

It's my understanding that carry is already a no-go in the places mentioned in the OP.

I hunt all deer seasons every year at patuxent. I was out at an evening ML hunt this year and just before I called it, I heard a shot, and then a whole bunch of yotes yapping. Definitely a little unsettling being stuck with only a musket out there...

I've heard the yotes are getting pretty abundant back there. Also makes me reconsider bow hunts too.

Cove Point is actually a County Park (managed by Calvert County Rec and Parks). But you are adjacent to Cove Point Park you are very near Calvert Cliffs State Park which is managed by MD DNR.

OP have you considered including ”NRMA”s (Natural Resource Management Areas) and “NEAs” (Natural Environment Areas) which are managed by MD DNR Park Service? NRMAs (and a few NEAs) are often also public hunting areas for example Indian Creek NRMA in Charles Count, Huntingtown NRMA in Calvert County and Belt Woods NEA in PG County.

In order to not run afoul of any NERPs, always remember:

    Oysters and Clams
    Section 4-1013

    (g) Firearms on dredge boats.- Subject to the laws relating to firearms, the captain, master or any person on board or having control of any dredge boat, may not have or permit to be kept on the dredge boat more than two shotguns not larger than a number ten gauge and using shot not larger than number one.

Well I did not think about it but I go to thurmont and go to cunningham falls state park once or twice a year. Its nice walk to the falls and can be very pretty in the fall, and fun to climb the falls in the summer when its hot out.

I also normally go to greenridge state forest yearly but have not this year. Maybe time for a nice weekend drive up there and take some pics.

Mark if this works let me know.

Liberty Reservoir is patrolled by DNR, but owned by the city. Does anyone know exactly where is falls into the prohibited/non-prohibited categorization?

I’ve never carried there because I wasn’t quite sure and my googling/search of these forums was unable to resolve this. I would definitely carry there if I could. Apologies for the thread drift.

When going to our 2nd home in Western PA it looks like I run afoul of the law in several places. I-70 going West takes me through South Mountain State Park and Greenbriar State Park. Once on I-68 I then have to cross through Green Ridge State Forest and Rocky Gap State Park. Don't know if Billmeyer WMA counts or not. On Sunday mornings when I go to the Savage River Rifle Range I have to travel through New Germany State Park and the range itself is in the Savage River State Forest.

Closer to home in SouthernMaryland, St.Mary's County, several blocks from home is Greenwell State Park. You have to drive through it to get to the Half Pone Point area where several of my friends live. Some of them have their permits and would have to drive through the State Park to go anywhere.

Interstates should (my opinion) be exempt from this BS...just like folks worry about the bridge on I-95 that ever so briefly touches DC. But then again, sanity and logic should be applied to all proposed bills/laws and we know that doesn't happen.
